[SARCASM]Gee, what a helpful, detailed reply! Your a genius![/SARCRASM]

If you guys are so smart, why can't you spell LUXURY correctly?

If you are so much smarter than us, then why can't you use the correct YOU'RE, and manage to drop the most expensive thing you own?

Please Mr. Hawking, enlighten us.

Don't buy a $1200 laptop if you're going to treat it like crap. This is the kind of stuff that doesn't help your financial situation.

This is almost as bad as the arguement that I had with some girl who was convinced that 12:00am was noon and 12:00pm, and thought I was retarded for thinking otherwise.

That last bit made me laugh.

Look, I tried to fix it myself (as was suggested) and I made it worse. I tried every software suggestion possible, then resorted to cracking it open myself to try and fix it. I've called Apple on the phone, and they told me to go to the Apple store. I've done what I can thus far, and I attempting to try and find public transportation of some sort so I can get to that elusive Apple store. All the posts repeating the same thing over and over again was really stressing me out because I knew those weren't viable options.

I have no money, no license, no transportation, no direction, no insurance, no life, no friends, no sufficient documentation, no ability and no intelligence.

It's awful difficult to keep your cool when your only computer is in shambles lying on the floor and the only people that can help you are calling you every name in the book.

I'm not trying to be petulant and I'm sorry for coming off as such. But the situation seems so hopeless and I was trying to find out whether or not I could at the very least fix the broken connector.

I felt people were being rude and that's why I responded as such. I know this forum is voluntary, and I was appreciative of those who helped without throwing something in my face. I still thank those people. But it sure makes it hard to thank someone when there sitting there telling you much suck or how everything I've done is wrong or that I wasn't listening when I was. Again, I tried several solutions.

I've listened. I've read every single reply. Put yourself in my shoes and maybe you can understand why I acted the way I did.

You guys win. I suck, I'm retarded, I'm not fit for the Mac, I can't do anything and I'm an insolent bastard. At this point I've put it back together, and I officially give up. This has to be the worst experience I've ever had on a forum.

Good God.

According to your signature, you have Jesus. Isn't that something?

(I have Jesus too...but I don't post my beliefs in hypocritical signatures either.)

Sounds to me like you need to get some peace yourself. You sound tormented far beyond the Macbook Pro.

I do wish you luck...but you need to accept the advice given you in a FREE forum graciously. There is LOTS of good advice here.

Good luck to you.

I have not read through the while thread. But depending on your age, your computer may still be covered by homeowner's insurance.

Quite feeling sorry for yourself. This is the Internet. You come across whiney and petulant...people are going to treat you in kind.

Again, there is, I am sure, not a single person on here who was happy to hear about your misfortune but come on...quit whining about it and quit getting angry at people who are trying to help.

Really? Your only computer is lying in shambles on the floor?

How, pray tell, are you posting here so frequently then?

You'll be able to survive until you can save enough to either get it fixed or buy an external optical drive. I too recommend trying an authorized Apple repair shop instead of the Apple Store. They can be more reasonable.

Well ask them to fix it or learn to live without the DVD drive. Christmas is coming ask for an external DVD drive, they're pretty cheap and cheaper than the internal replacement drive. This sort of thing could happen to anyone, doesn't matter if they're rich or poor the solution is the same. It's busted, next time be careful.
Not much point in crying over spilt milk.

Well, I give up. Like I said, I tried the solutions, they didn't work. External, professional help is not an option, and I was hoping there would be some way to fix it myself. There isn't, so I guess my only choice is to deal with it unless a miracle happens.

I am not trying to feel sorry myself; rather, I am yielding victory in what has erupted to be a flame war. I do admit I was petulant and whiny, and by apologizing I hope to restore some sanity to this thread.

First post has been revised to provide more detail.

I am the computer 'whiz' of the family. Sad, I know.
This computer was my 18th birthday present, as well as my Christmas present. A DVD drive from family or friends on Christmas is highly unlikely.

Thanks. I have been going through a deep depression lately and have lost a lot of my faith. It was foolish to rely on a computer for so much.

When I have cooled down a bit more, I will re-read the thread again to make sure I didn't miss anything. Furthermore, I will update my signature to reflect my current situation.

Good Day.

sell it then buy a used macbook.. there has to be one person in your life that can take you to the apple store.. go there, if they won't do anything for you, you're going to have to downgrade or get a new external dvd drive.. not really any other option

No, surprisingly, I do not have a family member or friend that can provide transportation to the Apple store.

I may try to sell this notebook, although I doubt, with the condition that it's in, that anyone will take it.

Thanks for the reply.

Good Day.

You seem too young to be going through a "deep depression."

Does anybody else get the impression we're being played?

Believe what you will. I assure you that I am not lying, though I doubt you'll take that to heart.

You are not me and you have not lived my life.

Good Day.

you'd be surprised.. for a unibody 13" MBP with the condition it's in (although I haven't seen it) you may be able to get around $600 or so if you can find a buyer who has the time and extra $$ to take a chance to get it fixed.. with $500-600 you can find a decent used macbook (2008 version or so) with some nice specs.. don't give up hope man
