Ah I did have that option. I had even set it but had forgotten. Only option is for 10 minutes. Unforuntately, when other devices sleep, the Vizio TV shows "No Signal" in the centre of the screen, and it stays static, doesn't move at all. I'd rather not let it just sit there with a static image for 10 minutes before going off.

The static image is fine for LED TVs. I cant stand the no input screen, especially at night if your TV is in your bedroom.

I agree it's annoying and not to mention 4K tv's use up to 30% more energy than a 1080P TV.

I read on Twitter that the Vizio E series does in fact work as expected. There's a new update coming out for Vizio Tv's which is 1.3.15-UHD but there's no formal release notes and they send out updates in batches in case there's something that messes up a lot of TV's so it could be a week or two before we even receive that update and zero guarantees that it will address this issue.

Just got my E series. ATV will turn TV on but not Off.

Hopefully we can create a list of Vizio TV models that are confirmed to work properly with the ATV 4 and make it a sticky.

I am surprised that something as old as CEC is not a standard across manufactures.

I am under the impression, that Apple's implementation is buggy. There are reports also in this forum, that tvOS 10 beta has brought improvement.

Upgraded to tvOS 10 as soon as it was released to the public and my P50-C1 still doesn't turn off but will turn on from the ATV4 remote. Since it worked properly on the LG tv I used to use (/w ATV4) I'm blaming Vizio. Too bad they are not doing anything about it (known issue for almost a year now).

I've emailed twice (first told it was a known issue being worked on, then told CEC works that it must be a problem with the Apple TV), called once (was told in a roundabout way that the agent wasn't a Vizio employee and he could escalate to his supervisor and it might get to Vizio someday but that I'd be better off going to Twitter/Facebook), and messaged both Canada and US pages on Facebook (no response yet). I'll take to Twitter next. If they're going to ignore customers and not stand behind their products we should shine a light on that.

I have had the same problem as others - TV turns on just fine but will not turn off. I used the 'timeout' setting as a workaround but it continued to annoy me that it stays on for 10 minutes. I was hopeful tvOS 10 would resolve the issue, but sadly, no improvement.

Finally some good news though - one of my Vizios updated to a new firmware 1.3.34 and it now works! The others had not updated after a couple weeks so I called Vizio today and their support pushed the new version. I can now confirm that CEC works great on version V1.3.34-UHD along with the tvOS 10 for models M80-C3, M70-C3, M43-C1 :)

So that means it was never Apples issue, which I always suspected, its the TV manufacturers issue. My LG still won't turn off and an update was just pushed out.

I receive an update to my M50-C1 on the September 28th.

Apple TV now turns the TV on and off. I think they've change they're thinking on their TV's. Considering a lot of their new ones do not even have a tuner, they sort of expect the display to be "dumb" and either use an external CEC device exclusively or cast stuff from another device. Maybe the new firmware update aligns with that?

Either way, I am very happy because I can now use Apple TV exclusively (...except for Amazon Prime Video).
