    Hi Guys
    I have just signed up for Cellullar 3G, on the new iPad, but as you dont seem to get any guide as to how to use it, I have some questions;
    1. In the settings should I have "Cellular Data and Roaming turned off" when at home and on my own Wifi, so that they dont go on and use my credit, and just turn both on when away from home??

    2 Is there any way to see just when its gone onto 3G, when out and about?

    Thanks
    Chris:confused:

    Leave roaming turned on. and wifi on. When the ipad is in range of wifi it will use that instead of 3G.

    You may choose to leave Cellular Data on because the iPad should automatically prefer a Wifi connection over the 3G/cellular data service but you don't have to. You can leave Cellular Data on at all times if you want, but I usually leave Roaming turned off (default position). That will be set to On when traveling overseas.

    Some, many actually, turn Cellular Data off when not in use to conserve battery power. Every little bit helps.

    You know you are using CD when it says 3G in the upper left and you see the infamous ATT connection bars. When you are using Wifi you'll see the signal curves instead.

    Totally unnecessary. As noted above, when you're in WiFi range then WiFi takes priority.

    Not if you want to save battery life.

    I turn CD off when at home too and while unnecessary it does improve battery life.

    Although I have noticed that some apps (like Facebook, Gilt, and TextPlus) fail to send push notifications while Cellular Data is in the Off position. When I turn it on I get all those notifications at once. Anyone else experience this?

    If I had to guess, the poster's home is likely on the electrical grid. So, sure, if you're on the road and want to conserve power then shutting off cellular will help. At home, I don't really get too concerned about battery life.
