If you're talking about using MyQ for your garage door opener, you might want to look at the meross smart garage door opener.

I had myQ, with the bridge, but I had nothing but problems with it. I'd have to reset it every few months (maybe every 4) and there was always a lag when I hit the app to open it (or did it through HomeKit). At the end, I was getting a ton of errors saying that the garage was unable to be closed (I forget the exact message, but something about obstructions detected).

After I couldn't fix that, I moved to the meross one & wish I had done it sooner. It works much quicker, so no 10s second delay to open/ close, and it's been 100% reliable in the year that I've had it. And it was really cheap.
Very helpful post. You are saying that I can keep my Chamberlain hardware the same, but use a different app?

I have a LiftMaster Chamberlain 8550.

I have cellular on my current Series 9 and never used it. Until one time about 2:30 am when my dog said he was sick and needed to go out. (My back yard is not completely fenced so I have to take him.) When we left the house, I heard someone calling "Help, help!" up at the other end of the block. I couldn't see what was going on, but I live in a relatively quiet, safe area. I cautiously walked that direction, dog in tow (he's not a guard dog and would run rather than fight). I found an elderly man lying in the road behind a running car. He was confused and didn't really know how he got there, but he said he had fallen and couldn't get up. I didn't have my phone with me, but I had my watch. I called 911 and waited with him until the ambulance came. I decided that was a good enough use case to also get cellular on my new Series 11. But, to be fair, I have a $10 discount on my phone plan from my last employer so it's costing me $6.81 per month including taxes and fees.

Yes. The meross can augment any existing garage door system. Check eBay, they are dirt cheap!

You don’t even need another app, it integrates natively into HomeKit, so you can use Siri or existing Home app in the watch.

Thank you! Would MyQ app keep working?

You should be able to. The Meross works with almost all garage door openers.

I'm not 100% sure. It should keep working, but you won't need to use it with the Meross one. Meross works directly in homekit so you just open it from there (there is also a Meross all you can use, but aside from setting it up, I've never opened it).

It should not cause any issues with the My! App in case you still want to use that one, or someone else in your family needs that app for some reason. The advantage would be that you don't need to use it on your watch, you could just use the Home Kit (or Meross) apps, which in my experience, are less prone to have connectivity issues requiring a reset. In fact, in the time I've had my Meross (got it late last year or early this year), I've had zero issues with it. I would have issues with the Chamberlain maybe 1-2x/month or so.

I have cellular on my ultra because I want to stream and take the occasional phone call, but I don't want to carry my phone.
