Until Apple makes an “Automatic” Apple Watch, I probably won’t be buying any ceramic, gold, or precious metal Apple Watch. It’s a good time piece for daily use so far but the problem with it is that for it to become a serious piece of horological history, it needs a little more boost to make it a masterpiece. It’s just my opinion since I love time pieces but feel there is a lack of soul for the current Apple Watch.

Stuck with the white version. Sept 22 delivery.
Were you able to sell your Series 2? If so, how much did you get?
Yup ordered the grey. Looks really smart here. Will get a red sports band to work with the red dot

Only footage of it I can find

@1.43minute
thanks for posting the footage. Definitely still leaning towards the white. Ended up ordering both due to indecisiveness and am planning to cancel one order within the next 24 hours or so.

I didn’t sell it yet.
Honestly I am not expecting to fetch more than 5-600 for it and that’s with AppleCare.

What would constitute "automatic"? Charging independently, via captured kinetic energy, like a mechanical watch? Or maybe solar? I'm hoping for a breakthrough in over-the-air charging, at least short range - so the watch can always be charging when I'm at home, or at my office.

I wonder about whether collecting these electronic watches will be a thing, but collecting Swatches has long been popular. This could also end up being like old electronic calculators. I have a collection of vintage HP calculators... all technically obsolete, but mostly functional. They didn't become appealing as collectibles until later. The expensive versions of the early Apple Watches, produced in relatively small numbers, could become interesting later - similar to certain mechanical watch movements. Maybe.

I’m basically looking for kinetic charging and enough battery efficiency for at least 24 hours so it can be independent of a charger. Apple is looking into OTA charging right now but I think it’s still about 3-5 years off in the future for them. They only have a 7.5 Watt inductive right now but the current standard is 15 watt. While OTA charging would help greatly, I think the future of the watch is to be an “automatic” with a weight, oscillator, and electromagnetic core.

I did the same but with the gray ceramic, the gray sport and the Space Black stainless. I've already cancelled the Stainless and after seeing the video here I'm almost certain the gray ceramic is what I'm going with. I do like the white, but I don't see a lot of men (or women really) wearing white watches here in the midwest. Maybe they are more common somewhere else.

Ordering 3 watches in 10 minutes with a credit card I haven't used in 6 months won me a couple fraud calls with the bank and one from Apple. lol

Oh ok, gotcha. I found a store near me that will buy it back for around $680-700. And I can request a prorated refund for the remaining portion of AppleCare.

My indecisiveness lies with whether I would wear both watches (S3 gray & S2 white) often enough to justify having the two and whether or not the gray will work with my collection of bands.

I’m like 95% sure I’m gonna go with the white, just hoping for more video footage before cancelling the ceramic gray.

You found an Apple Store willing to buy your Apple Watch back?

No, not an Apple Store. Sorry if that was misleading. There’s a store in the mall near me that buys used electronics, kind of like a pawn shop but the prices are actually pretty good — better for a buyer but not bad for a seller.

I woke up suddenly at 3:20am (20 mins after the store went live) and impulse-ordered the white ceramic, and contemplated getting the grey ceramic as well, but didn't. I regret that as it now seems as if I return the white after trying it out, it will be months before I can get a grey ceramic one in hand.... But at least I will have the white! Sept 22 delivery.

Being a guy I feel the grey would work better for me but with that said the white you will have a lot more band options and looks very nice too. I don't think the grey will work with much. I was a about to go with the Grey since I had the Dark side of the moon but I realize the SS goes with far more colors and the longevity isn't necessary on a disposable watch that I will upgrade after 1 to 1.5 years.

@richard371 You are probably right. I have wanted the white since the beginning of the Series 2, so I probably won't regret the white!

BTW, they are already preparing for shipping!

You can try buying it from B&H Photo if you're in the U.S.

I decided to get the white ceramic variant, but the red dot stands in pretty stark contrast to the white. What bands do you think would work well with the white ceramic?

I am thinking that the new Platinum/Black Nike + band will look amazing. It doesn't come out until October, apparently, but I have one on order for when it does. I also like the red dot - but I like red a lot. So the red band will likely be donned by me as well.

Also, from last year, was a person who photographed a whole ton of combinations with the ceramic (white) watch. Have a gander:

Thanks! I've seen the Flickr account for the bands. Some variants strike me as working pretty well

As you mentioned, the Product (RED) band might work well with the red dot:

iMore also showcases the Hermes Single Tour with the "Fire Orange" that could work:

Sometimes that's the easiest way Is to have cash in hand and selling the device in person. Versus taking the risk on the Internet or being frauded by somebody else where they take your money.

I have one of those on order in readiness for my ceramic white. I think it will look amazing
[doublepost=1505589875][/doublepost]I see the Ceramic white orders have now slipped to 2 to 3 weeks. Last night, order times were still 5 to 7 days
