The point with brushing is that it is not merely enough to brush your teeth for a given amount of time. Much more important is the way how you brush. And that can not be monitored by a toothbrush, unless you start planting sensors in the mouth, or wearing some kind of contraption with sensors, so the brush knows where it is.... Also, it seems like this toothbrush is not one of the ultrasonic (Sonicare) brushes, which are agreed by pretty much all dentists to be the best brushes for the general public, IF you use the proper technique.
Apart from that I feel like this brush is not fully developed. If it was smart, it would use some kind of recognition in the head to determine who is using the brush, and thus eliminate the need of every person in a household to buy his or her own expensive brush.
I am a fan of connected things, but knowing more details about brushing the teeth, this device seems to be fun and maybe a move in the right direction, but far from useful and all around, thus pretty much doomed to fail.
Another product to dumb down our future generation. Woo!
Remember back in the day before cell phones were common place, we figured out how to get around. Now people forget their phone and panic like they are missing something. Absolutely crazy.
You guys sound like my grandfather when I was growing up, complaining that I spent too much time at my computer and hogging the phone line for dialup. I guess my computer time paid off.
You may not see the point because you're old fashioned and your old way of doing things works just fine but health tracking is increasingly becoming an important motivational and analytics tool for individuals and doctors alike. Why not dental health? I own an Oral-B and I might give this a look when mine wears out.
