obvious solution : if companies don't like what Apple did, they make their own

I like this iphone case 3.5mm to lightening connector.

like that smart dock with connectors... They just magically slide out when it's docked:)

We have lift-off ! For some reason, I found myself playing 1.04 over and over again ... I just like it.

I didn't really get how that smart docks works, it's supposed to be for the new MBP? because in the 1.04 the connectors sliding out weren't USB-C. How are they connecting?

I find it quite funny how most of these things used to be built into Apple products at no extra cost (literally), and now, in the name of making products thinner, you have to use these cases, adapters and docks that actually make them even thicker than the previous version. Also I bet they're ridiculously expensive.

Yes, yes they removed the floppy drive and it was a great albeit premature idea at the time. Yes, the CD drive was a huge, bulky, unreliable piece that was a good riddance from a laptop. These things had their time and became obsolete, so it was just a matter of when, not if.

But Now we're talking about removing tiny little things that make your life hell, none of which are going to go obsolete. MagSafe, the classic USB port, the headphone jack, the HDMI port, the SD card reader... None of these things are bulky and none of them are obsolete. Most cameras in 2017 continue to use SD cards, all screens and projectors use HDMI, all audio devices use an audio jack, and all digital devices use the classic USB port. With the exception of USB-C, these are going to remain this way for the entire life of this computer, and well beyond it.

And you don't gain much either, these devices can't get much thinner now.

Yes you have Tim.
Happy New Year.
Please don't remove that next year.

It's Jim, and Happy New Year to you too sir :D

On topic, that case looks a little daft to me. Personally, if I needed a headphone jack that much, I wouldn't buy an iPhone 7 to begin with.

How can you switch the laptops on and off if you have a vertical dock from Henge Docks?

How come we haven't heard about the plethora of Lightning connector headphones that were supposed to flood the market with the demise of the headphone jack?

Manufacturers are waiting until next summer when the top Samsung phone also gets rid of the headphone jack. Of course, the plug will be USB so to use it with an iPhone you will need a converter.

Seen ads for that Apple Watch camera. At just shy of $200 I don't see many sales. But I could be dead wrong. Maybe there's a huge desire for a $200 camera strap.

If it was made by Apple, quite a few here who would be singing its praises.
Perhaps. I think it may take the way of the official Apple battery case. Don't see too many people jazzed about that (some, sure, but it is basically off everyone's radar at this pont, and for good reason.)

Apple needs to remove the lightning port (with such a long battery life, who needs to recharge?), volume switch (Apple's default volume is good enough for me), power button (Who turns off their phone anyway?), both cameras (Apple camera attachment anyone!?!), speakers (with AirPods, who could listen any other way?), SIM card slot (so out of date), mute switch (not taking calls is rude) and, finally, the home button needs to be INCREASED to match the same thinking of increasing the size of the 2016 MBP trackpad. Imagine how thin, light, yet robust the phone would be. 2017 = the year of courage.

What a sad collection of accessoires. There's nothing here I would ever consider buying.

Makes me even more worried about the future of the apple ecosystem. If these are the current options to expand or improve on it, it's a sad state of affairs.

Did they mention the satchel you will need for all the dongles your new Macbook will require just to be useful?

New SanDisk 480gb drive at apple store today, came with both usb c and usb 3 cables. Perfect for those of us with new MBPs and older Mac to transfer data to and later sell. was 149, and about the size of a deck of cards (maybe smaller - ridiculously small at 3 inches by 3 inches by half inch thick approx. Good transfer speeds until it heated up but rugged with rubber cab for covering inputs. No power supply needed.
