This particular one doesn't have a USB-C port and thus no way to charge a MBP with more than what USB3 allows (about 20 to 25 W). Useable in a pinch but significantly slower than the normal MBP charger.

Yeah, I’m sad that there is still so much confusion about this. MacBook Pros (and 2017 iPad Pros and iPhones) don’t support QC 3.0 charging speeds, only USB-C PD. So from this charger you’d only get the max 2.4 Amps (12 W) when using a USB-A to C cable. It would take about 6-7 hours to fully charge a 15-inch MBP, which isn’t that bad, but still, you’ll never get more than 12W with any charger that wasn’t specifically USB-C with Power Delivery.

Or you could get one with the same options for about $25 on Amazon.
I've purchased and returned two sub $30 chargers from Amazon. One buzzed loudly and both got so hot while charging my macbook pro that I was afraid they would start a fire. Maybe the extra 15 watts on this will make a difference?

I would not trust a $25 generic power adapter for anything higher than 25W. A Google engineer did a great analysis of many different USB-C charger bricks and cables, and found that nearly all cheap ones were actually dangerous to use, either a fire hazard, or a risk to your device. For being a Google engineer, you'd think he would be predisposed to dislike Apple, but he rated Apple's USB-C chargers and "USB-C power cables" as the highest-rated ones.

How odd that, as an Android user, I'd only have to carry one charger and one cable. But a loyal iPhone user would have to carry a USB-C charger for their Mac and a Lightning charger for their iPhone.

No - Read the Fine Article - the sort of muti-port USB charger described here is fine for all current MBPs except the 15" (and would even suffice for recharging that overnight).

Or, they'd only have to carry the Mac USB-C charger (which now has a USB-C socket rather than a captive MagSafe cable) and a USB-C to Lightning cable (instead of the normal USB-A to Lightning cable they'd need otherwise) for their phone.

To Apple's credit, their iPhone/iPad/iPod power adapters have always had USB sockets rather than captive cables and I've never had to carry more than one power brick for my mix of Android phones, iPads, Kindles, rechargeable headphones etc. - and since the MBP power supply is, out of necessity, far bulkier than is needed for mobile devices its not that daft to keep it separate (and there's always the option of charging the mobile stuff via the laptop's USB ports).

Of course, Apple have borked their new Mac USB-C adapter design by removing the cable management (but, hey, "worse" is the new "better"), gouged the customer by selling the USB-C charge cable and mains extension cable separately and are too tight to even ship a choice of USB-C and USB-A cables with the $1000 iPhone X.

SO let me get this straight. You're basically carrying this around instead of your MacBook power brick? And are you able to run multiple devices on it simultaneously with your MacBook?

I too have the Zerolemon 75w charger. Picked it up from Amazon. Works great. I use it at home on the couch and charge my laptop (2017 MBP 15"), iPhone 7Plus, and other stuff. I also use a USB 3.0 external WD HDD for Time Machine when using this charger. I love it. I also have a case I take on planes with this charger, wireless headphones, cables, battery, etc. Works great and has never tripped the circuit breaker on the plan AC outlet.
