According to Chipolo, the CARD Spot has been designed to be thin and sleek, so that it can fit in the card slot of a wallet without adding too much extra bulk. It measures in at 2.4mm or 0.09 inches, which Chipolo says is almost as thin as a bank card.
ApplePay allowed us to remove the bulk and carry less cards in our wallets while Chipolo wants to put that bulk back. ?

"almost as thin as a bank card" A bank/credit card is 0.76mm thick vs this which is 2.4mm thick. 215% thicker is "almost?" ?

Wow! This one is so slim. Such a unique design.
Unique? It's rectangular with rounded corners exactly like a credit card.

I have never lost them, but I have occasionally left them at work or at home when I am in a rush. The Tile on my keys, and now the AirTag, reassured me that all was fine.

Also, my house has never burned down, but I still have fire insurance.
This Chipolo device and fire insurance aren't even the same.

You control where you place your wallet. You cannot control when, where or how a fire starts. Look at what happened recently in Colorado

I have I Chipolo one spot. It is much louder than the Air Tag my friend has.

The only thing I loose is my work keys and they stay at work. Most of the time I leave them hanging on the coat hook in the crapper. The other times I leave them in my winter coat that stays at work. I work in maintenance so I have a heavy duty coat when I have to go outside in the winter that stays at work also.

So, I have a one spot tag hanging off them.

I used to have a tile. For me the tile worked great. I just wanted one less app on my phone.

Ordered!

I pre-ordered the One Spot and was asked to take part in some consumer research - my feedback was basically that they needed to do a Find My compatible version of their card tracker. Since switching everything to Apple Pay, I rarely need my wallet, so find myself looking for it, whereas I rarely lose my keys.

I use a slim wallet connected to my keychain and have an AirTag on that. Works great.

Tip: Keep important stuff like a wallet in a safe pocket. Common sense and care will save you having to waste money on stuff you don't need. I guess this is for people who forget where they park their $30,000 car.

Not trying to be harsh, but this kind of tech is basically a tax for the stupid.
Don’t be obtuse. There are people out there who are cautious with their valuables but accidents and mistakes happen. It’s human nature and not even you are except from it.

I’ve never lost a wallet but I have left my house in a hurry and forgotten to bring it with me. And I have left my phone at the office. Having this type of tech comes in handy when I’m distancing myself from these items so that I don’t realize until I’ve already arrived at my destination.

Track your high value items as a fall back in case something happens! Definitely a needed item and happy to see it. For a wallet, thinness may not be the most important thing, but also flexibility.

>It measures in at 2.4mm or 0.09 inches, which Chipolo says is almost as thin as a bank card.
chipolo thickness = 2.4 mm
standard credit card thickness = 0.76

This is not "almost as thin" if it's 300% thicker. That's two orders of magnitude thicker.

The Chipolo thickness is elequilent to carrying 3 more credit cards stacked on top of each other. I'm not willing to sit on or carry that. I'm sure it could be shaved down a lot. Use flexible circuits. Their limiting factor is probably that they are sourcing standard button cell batteries.

I will say that this is reasonable for passport wallets, or people that don't wear wallets in the back.

this is a good thing to point out, as it's only very slightly thinner than the tile wallet.

granted, i think the obsession with dudes with fondling their rear just to stick their wallet in a pocket is absurd, considering having one's wallet behind them is silly. i've got a slim wallet that slides right into a pocket that is no further out than my peripheral vision.

Wow! I wouldn't want to be nearby when you are trying to be harsh! ;)

Future Macrumors articles will likely be about how Chipolo is suing Apple for "copying" it's intellectual copyrights or whatever. Apple is likely already working on a wallet card that's compatible with Find My.

Hmmm... I'm 64 years old and I’ve never lost a wallet, phone, keys, eyeglasses, remotes, etc. No brag, just fact. Maybe it is just the way I was raised up to keep track of stuff.
I'm 66 years old. Prior to my recent purchase of AirTags I would lose my car keys in the house occasionally.

Be advised that you have two years before this happens to you.

Plastic junk designed for obsolescence. Most people will carry wallets in their back pockets. This won’t withstand being sat on…

I'll try this... I wish Apple would make one for the wallet. You send it to them, they replace it with one with new battery just like Apple AirPods policy. It gets recycled unlike that plastic Coke bottle you threw in the trash. At least it's not expensive.

I got geeked up, but then realized that the tracking cannot be shared with other users (eg my wife). This must be an Apple Find My limitation and it will keep me from investing in any of these solutions.

People even do that with phones. I really really don't get it. I don't want to sit on anything when I am sitting. How can that possibly even be comfortable?

Out of total curisouty, may I ask I you have kids? I was fine putting my stuff in the same place for years until the kids came along - and learned to use a stool as a ladder...
