Already been vaccinated with the J&J, the one that the CDC and FDA were fear-mongering about.
I think the FDA was trying to build confidence back up on the J&J vaccine by taking a pause to review these new cases. The last thing that is needed is an additional reason for people not to get vaccinated.

It's ironic that an event focused on high tech decided to go back in time to old school in-person event. Imo they could've focused more on online presence utilizing AR instead of going back old school.
It was incredibly difficult to show new tech virtually. The vast majority of products at CES require in-person handling or viewing. So I’m not surprised at all

Humans have five senses, with video and AR we use two of those senses. There is also an undefined that maybe considered a sixth is when we get a feel for any object or person in a space that cannot be mimicked with AR.

Try using AR with the new iMac and it falls short.

Yep. At least in my state, the supply of vaccine is well ahead of demand and you don't even need an appointment in many spots to get vaccinated. To me, if someone in my state hasn't had at least on shot by mid-May, they have assumed the risk. I fully expect the mask mandate to be lifted by the end of May, given the plethora of vaccine.
Yup it’s becomes similar to that of smoking. You’re well aware of the risks, if you still choose to do so enjoy the risks and don’t cry when you’re on life support

A vaccine is only effective if the majority of the people get it. If they decide they don't trust the vaccine or have some other stupid reason for not taking it then we'll still be in the same boat we're in now, because that will give the virus more time to build an immunity to the vaccine and mutate to a more virulent and contagious strain.
As per Pfizer’s CEO a booster third shot is required and then annually like the seasonal flu. Does not seem like the vaccine maker is confident plus with variants and mutations regardless if one is vaccinated or not is still a concern. Maybe read up on the trials as to what this “vaccine” actually does and does not do rather than reverberate what the news media and politicians are proclaiming.

After being forced to go online, I am not sure I ever want to go to a convention or conference in person again. No need to travel, sleep in hotels, eat crapy convention food, etc. And as a speaker at tech conferences, I am getting very comfortable with presenting online and prefer to use my setup.

I will leave the traveling to my own personal vacations and avoid convention destinations. I hope I never do a convention in Vegas.
Either you appreciate the experience or not, just like travelling some like it other don’t and some cope.

The Pfizer CEO is a researcher and may be correct. But he also is an executive of a public corporation and is legally bound to work on behalf of the shareholders of the company, which means increasing stock price.

Unless there is an escape mutation. India is being hit hard.
Well nature says variants and mutations is a normal and routine process of life. Since the start of this we have had mutations and variants from UK, South Africa, Brazil, NY, India, I believe there was one in California and another in Japan.

Let the fear mongering escalate and continue. Even vaccination through herd immunity is unknown it’s projected at 70% but not sure.

So you are saying is that vaccine companies can or cannot be trusted. When money is involved it tends to corrupt.

No doubt. I enjoy traveling and do it quite often and have spoken at conferences worldwide. But the travel would be more fun without the need to speak and having to miss days while on travel to rehearse, tech checks, meetings, etc.

Hey. I'm all for willfully ignorant people meeting up with the consequences of their actions (it helps improve the gene pool by proving that stupidity is not a survival trait). I just don't want them telling me that they have a right to breathe their contagion onto me because they won't take the most elementary precautions to keep the virus from spreading.
In the words of the Jurassic Park movie character Ian Malcolm, “Life will find away” plus life goes on. According by to anew report corona viruses have been detected 2500 years ago in humans, it’s nothing new though subsets unknown maybe or maybe we have not uncovered the previous evidence yet. All I am saying is that humans and viruses have lived together for a very long time and both are still here today and will continue to be in the future.

Not saying we cannot trust the company or the CEO. Just saying there are a lot of unknowns about the future of Covid-19 at this point, and one can shade things to their best interest. And that is true in many things where no money is involved such as relationships, school, etc.

My fiends and I have not worn a mask since the start of this “pandemic” and not physical distanced and we are all fine. No infection. I would not consider ourselves healthy but we do our best to eat healthy and exercise and have fun relax and keep our stress levels down.

When we see and hear about cases reported in the news media, we ask ourselves either we are lucky or something does not add up.
It's really fascinating how some people are proud of being out of touch and ignorant.

Well no one said the previous model/s were perfect, there is always room for improvement and new methods to deliver the information provided.

For example an in-person keynote given by Steve Jobs was far better than watching it online version.

One has to view the information with scepticism regardless of it’s from a company, government or other. It’s a machine and as a part of it you are not permitted to stray from the common goal of that organization. Some who have had previous ties have decided to speak out but the machine does not like it and will cast doubt.

You are a person who has the ability to critically think, when politicians lips move there is a saying that their are lying and it has merit. Politicians and corrupt have burnt public trust in the past and expect people to blindly agree and forget about the past.

I, like many others, have seen videos of people being pulled miraculously alive from a collapsed building after an earthquake, or as a survivor of an apartment fire. But for some reason I'm unlikely to try that experience myself just because they were lucky. I'm sure the 500,000+ dead in the US are nodding their heads in agreement with you that this "pandemic" is just a hoax. That they just happened to die on respirators because of ... reasons (insert asinine conspiracy theory here). And while you may be OK with spreading disease because you personally were not affected by it, I am more likely to take a shovel upside your head to be sure that you aren't actually a carrier and breathing that on me.

Did you participate in Virtual CES 2021? It was absolute trash and completely worthless. Even if it was free for virtual 2022 I wouldn't waste my time with it.

The last time I was truly impressed with technology was in 2001.

This is exactly what is impressive about technology now. It is so embedded in our daily lives that it is largely invisible. If only you had an idea of how much influence AI and algorithmic patterns have in your everyday decisions you would be more than shocked. This was always Steve Jobs vision - seamless technology to improve our lives. Not sure if the direction we are on now will truly improve our lives though. Algorithmic literacy is gaining traction around the world as a key ethical issue to tackle.

You neglected to include those with the antibodies from previously contracting covid. They help get to herd immunity as well.

The current vaccines are already ineffective against Brazil’s P.1 strain, according to the studies I’ve seen.
Cite the studies, because a basic google search on that issue came up with nothing that says the current vaccines are "ineffective". People need to stop fear mongering and need to stop playing infectious disease experts after misreading the internet.

Turn off the news, go outside, take off your mask, breath.

That's an interesting angle, but I feel we have replaced humanity with psychopathy. I feel the direction we are moving will be the undoing of modern society and freedom in general. Ultimately, it's out of my hands though, I'll be lucky if I see another 5 years on this planet :D
