Chance of getting an 8 on launch day without preorder?

this was my experience too. sunday night at 11 pm all configurations were available for in stock pickup at all 7 nearby stores except 64 gb black 8. monday morning at 6 am when i went to actually do the order, all configurations were supposedly gone and no in store pickup on any of them, which im pretty sure was bogus.
