Ya I just came here to post that. Verizon will serve 30 cities and 100 million people with 4G LTE by the end of this year. AT&T will be forced to react. This is a tough decision.

Yea with that and VZN-apple talks i think AT&T needs to get with it

At this point ATT's 3g network is already fast enough for normal web browsing usage, the limiting factor is the processor and ram on the phone itself at this point.

I can hardly tell a difference between wifi and 3g on my phone, because the phone still takes time to actually load and render a site.

I can't see Apple doing a half assed 4g device. So until networks support FULL 4g (as in voice and data over 4g) I can't see them offering it as a feature. Apple isn't going to do what the EVO did and stick 2 radios in their phones. WAY to big a battery hog.

What I'm more curious about is that Verizon mentions that Global LTE and GSM roaming will come later, does that mean at some point an unlocked iphone will work on verizon?

Considering verizon's going to have like 100 million customers served with LTE by the end of the year, just switch over and chance that Apple will bring the iphone 4 to verizon. If they don't, well, you could use a superior phone like an android phone and enjoy superior 4G coverage (lets be honest, AT&T is going to *#&# this up big time) :p

I doubts the next iPhone will have 4g. The reason is the same why the first iPhone didn't have 3G. There will be almost no 4g around and apple likes to release things at their best

I would bet on the 2012 revision having 4G. The 4G phone chips available next year will be too taxing on the battery life for Apple to include, especially since a very low percentage of their customers will have 4G coverage.

In my city, it took about 5 years for AT&T's 3G rollout to reach us, and we are a fairly densely populated area. I'm not holding my breath for 4G any time soon.
