This is why I am waiting to buy one, new screens can have issues I'm waiting a few months till the issues shake out

Same here. I'm not going through that PIA again. I'll let you guys figure it out first. :)

It's amusing to me - the denialists. It was an issue. I returned my iPad 2 because of it. The "sitting in a dark closet with a black screen" jab is bull. Please tell me why I shouldn't be able to enjoy a movie in a dark room? Am I really the only person who watches movies and videos in bed at night in a dark room? And it didn't even have to be in a dark room or on just a black screen (ex. the Videos app) or letterbox movies - it was visible on any darker-colored background. It was also visible at almost every level of brightness. The light bleeding was absolutely horrendous on mine - huge pinched spots all round the perimeter - uneven and distracting. Looked like absolute ****. Only a fool would keep something a half-grand plus that looked like that. The bleeding was a combination of pressure from the glass on the screen and in turn the screen on the components. It was a manufacturing/design flaw, not flawed display panels because I could make the issue better or worse by applying pressure at different points along the bezel. I never had such a problem with original iPads. I suspect with the iPad 3 being slightly thicker, the problem will be less prevalent or non existent.

Calm down. I just read every post in the thread - nobody denied that some people had issues with light bleeding. Maybe you could quote them for us.

People were denying it was a valid issue and that it is simply people's OCD- that's what I'm talking about. I don't need to quote anyone, just read and see their attitudes yourself... and I'm not just talking about this thread.

I read them! They said that some people were experiencing legitimate problems which could be addressed; and that it was hard to say how bad the problem was because legitimate complaints were mixed in with whining from people with bizarre standards. Couple this with a selection effect (those who have a problem are more likely to speak up than those who don't) and it seems reasonable to not blow things out of proportion. I don't see why my comments would bother you so much, so too bad you can't downvote me twice, huh? ;)

EDIT: You're not just talking about this thread? A little late to get mad at people in another thread off in the ether somewhere.

Sure, I'm talking about everyone who is implying that people are OCD or whiners for viewing their iPads in the dark. You seem to be deriving great enjoyment by attacking me personally. A bit odd... Who said I downvoted your comment? You know there are other people who may agree with me who read this thread. Seems a bit paranoid to me. Also, I am not the one riled up, so don't tell me to calm down. Look at your own first sentence - "I read them!".

I just asked for you to post some examples of this - because most of the comments about 'OCD' seem to acknowledge legitimate issues as well, so I'd like to put your comments in context. I thought it was a reasonable request in this discussion, because I don't really like making up strawmen.

I just figured you downvoted me because as soon as your comments are posted they have a plus one and mine get a minus one, but sure, it's possible I'm paranoid. Cheers!

EDIT: Yes, my first sentence is "I read them!" The exclamation mark expresses surprise. I wrote that I read every post in this thread, and then you told me to go read the posts myself.
