Before my family switched to an AT&T family plan, they were with T-Mobile. The caller ID on T-Mobile showed all numbers calling in (on the family plan) as the account holder's name. They never got around to fixing that, but they noticed that the numbers ported over to AT&T with the same information (T-Mobile account holder's name), even though this new AT&T account is not even under that name.

My question is how would I change the name information on the AT&T caller ID? Is there away to take names away completely and just have it show "Cell Phone [area you are in]"?

Try changing them to something else to see if that makes a difference or not.
It takes about 24hours it says for the changes to show up.

Just changed the names. If the caller ID is still the same from T-Mobile, I will have to call them.

Same here.:(

I asked the same question on another forum, and someone said that, from what they remember, it took a few billing cycles for the servers to get updated after individual changes are made to the profiles...so that could be it. He also mentioned it could be phone book entries that haven't been updated.

I've always updated the caller id by calling them, and it as always been done within a day.
