Yes, I remember them as well. Ah, the good old days....

eeh, I'm not too happy with mine either - I'd much rather be ... "the MR-member formerly known as mcadam"

And when you change back (as you most probably will, as was proven by Prince) you will be 'the MR-member formerly known as the MR-member formerly known as mcadam'

And i luv your 'tar...

Ok so are we allowing name changes now and if so what are the prerequisites for it to happen.

edit: ooh I used a big word.

Name changes were technically always allowed, you just need a good reason to change it, and it is subject to the Mods' discretion. I really hope a lot of members don't change their name though, it would get tough to keep track of everyone.

I have always wished I picked a different name but I never gave it much thought back when I first signed up. I wonder if it would be worth it or am I better recognized as MacNut.

Generally speaking we're really against changing user names, and will only do it if your user name is: 1) an identifying mark in the real world i.e. your real name, 2) an AOL-type name w/ lots of unnecessary numbers or letters, or 3) you provide a decently good reason for doing so.

Name changes are confusing to other forum members, and don't help your reputation as a poster in the least. They instead making people question who you are even if you've been here a long time.

If you have a good reason for it, ask. If not, stick with whatcha got. We know you as what you are now, and nobody thinks too much about a username past the reputation they already know about you.

To be honest I would probably regret a name change as I guess I have become attached to my alter ego and anything else would not fit anymore.

Well said Mudbug. As I said above, I'm against the whole name change thing in general. In certain instances, sure, but if too many started liberally doing it, it would really screw up MacRumors in the long run.

Oh dear. I appear to have opened a right can of worms!

Sorry!

I do meet some of the criteria that mudbug set out so I'll apply via a PM.

No, you're right, it used to be devilot76, but it's actually a "she" not a "he". :p ;)
That would be an amazing change by Mudbug.
Yes, I think his powers only extend so far...

Actually... you'd be surprised. Mudbug does indeed have such amazing powers. All us Demi-Goddesses started off as Demi-Gods

He got it changed... the beginning of this thread shows him as "devilot" BUT someone quoted him, and it said Quote=Devilot76...

you're in the right place. don't worry.

unless were ALL wrong.
I know I'm right as so far that she changed it, or got it changed to be accurate. But I quite honestly thought it happens weeks ago.

I always "filter" out those numbers at the end of nicks, so on the rare occasion those change there's actually a little chance of me noticing... And with all the confusion this thread gave me I'll try never noticing anything similar... ever... again... ;) :D

Coffee... I need coffee to wake up...

I wonder if she changed her name partly because those of us who were newbies at the time thought she was a he. I used to think you were a dude too. Was I at least right about you being Canadian, or was that somebody else I'm thinking of? Maybe I'll just start referring to everybody as a they or them or hey, you there. Might make things a lot easier on all of us.

And yes, flood gates open.

I had my profile name changed and am very thankful for it. I sent a PM to a Mod and gave my reason and managed to get it changed to DeSnousa. Before I was ds1 which I hated, I had that profile name because I just needed some questions answered. After that I fell in love with the community :) and felt that my profile was just a random name to get some help and never come back to the forums, as such I wanted a change to reflect that I wanted to participate on the forums.

Good story, I'm glad things worked out for you. That's definitely a valid reason in my books, so I'm glad the Mods saw it that way as well. :)

There's another nick I often prefer over this... but people are so prone to misspelling it that after a while I whould probably beg to have my old nick back

Yeah, I lurked around as well...

As for this whole "Lacero=edsignuk" thing, how did this even come about? Guess I missed the memo... As far as I know, they're separate entities... edesignuk is in the UK, Lacero is out here in western Canada (BC, I thought?)

You'll be even more confused after reading it. I know I was. ;)

But let's keep this thread subject on-topic.
