Maybe MacRumors can hire an announcer. With all the people feeling some kind of inner need to inform the rest of the forum about what they are doing or not doing about a new phone, maybe we can get Al Michaels to announce which forum member has suddenly felt the urge to make such an announcement.
Guilty as charged! :D:D:p Unfortunately, I remain undecided. Tell Al!

I also changed my mind. I've been using an S8 for a few days and was initially stoked for the iPhone X. Don't get me wrong, it'll be a great device but not $999 great. There is almost nothing that the iPhone X does that the Galaxy S8 in my hands can't do and certainly isn't worthy of the extra $250. That said, I pre-ordered the iPhone 8 today. Hopefully the next iPhone X will come down in price a bit. Edge to Edge is nice but it's really and overrated idea. Wireless charging is nice but its very limited in it's actual functionality (can't really use it when charging wirelessly).

If I were a Galaxy S8 user, I would certainly be hesitant too. The S8 display wins in display area and side bezel thickness. If you're satisfied with the Android software, there's no reason to go iPhone X.

I need/want FaceID. That is a huge draw for me. Touch ID does not work well on my 6+. Maybe its the phone itself. But Face ID seems so so much quicker and easier. I need o_O Just hate waiting.

Touch ID 1.0 has been hit or miss for many people. Touch ID 2.0, especially with the capacitive Home button is lightning fast and almost never fails.

For OP: Your reasons are sound and logical, well thought out, however you are still going to get the X.

hi jimbo1mcm.
thanks.
you may be right.
i need to hold it in my hand.
work with it in the apple store a few times.
and then see. you're totally right.
but then again, i was honest in my saying its not solely about the iPhone X itself, but has to work for me in creating a simple eco-system of apple products that works with minimal baggage (cords, adapters, fast charging) and then buying into it entirely. i figure i need 5 adapters/cords to be where i currently have them now (across home, office, car, satellite office etc). so, my decision might not change until at least i replace my MacBook Air with the next generation MacBook (whenever it does come out).

thanks again.

I really like the X, at least from what can be seen in the presentations. I think all of the new features are great, and I came pretty close to deciding to buy on as an upgrade to my 6. But, for me, it came down to money. I don’t NEED all the great new features. For me, it would be an unjustified indulgence.
So, I signed up with the Apple Upgrade Program, and purchased an 8. Looks to be a great phone! Can’t wait for it to arrive.

I’ve said this before, but I think it sums up my feelings well:

I view the iPhone X as the iOS counterpart of the 12" MacBook.

The MacBook was super expensive for what it was, but was the new kid on the block that brought all kinds of innovations (new keyboard, ultra thin design, Force Touch) that were eventually brought to the remaining line.

The iPhone X is the new cutting edge product that is substantially more expensive just for the sake of being new. In time it will be refined and it's innovations will flow to the rest of the line. I couldn't justify spending the money not the first generation MacBook and I can't on this first generation product either.

Is this guy irritating to watch or what. 38 minute of huffing and puffing, give me a break. Take two minutes to say what you want to say. 26 minutes of this guy loving himself.....yuck.
and he seems to upload a new rant every day that is 25-45 minutes long
