I can assure you that no one is interested in your iPhone anyway

I believe he just said that.

Crap, now I have to go through each of my social media profiles and delete all those high resolution images of my fingertips!

So you have to lock the stuff up in your home and around your friends?

Why do you change when you step outside of that circle?

Something wrong right.
Got nothing to do with "honesty".

I disagree with "honesty" as a philosophical concept.
Only children believe in honesty.

Scrub that. It's clear why I can't leave an unlocked iphone around you and yours.

From your posts in this thread, I'm not sure you quite understand where computers come from, or rather who they came from. Groups like the CCC and other hacker communities are really just large-scale versions of the Homebrew Computer Club that Woz (and to a lesser extent, Jobs) were part of in the 70s, a group that for all intents and purposes invented the personal computer. Indeed, Woz was a well known phreaker and would mess around with telephonic technology and security just for fun, and quite frankly I imagine he chuckled with delight when reading this news (remember, he sent the original iPhone hacker George Hotz a congratulatory email when he had completed the hardware jailbreak of the first iPhone.) This is, essentially, what groups like the CCC do. They take technology to the limits of its capabilities - or discover capabilities inherent in certain technologies which have not been fully utilized - out of sheer joy and curiosity. While mischievous uses can evidently be devised for these exploits, such is the case with literally any piece of technology that has ever been invented. Would you rather that no one bothered to let us know that this could be done? That way if a truly criminal outfit did discover this, the security world would be in the dark until it was too late. If there are security flaws in a piece of technology, the public must know so they can take steps to protect themselves.

Im old enough to know. From your reply though I can see you don't understand what I wrote. Thats ok I'll add you to the 'cant leave my iPhone around you unlocked list'

Simple solution: Don't publicize pictures. Set the default setting on Facebook to anything but "Public," perhaps to "Friends."

Another idea: When you know your picture's going to be taken, keep your unlocking finger in a position where the camerapeople won't get a good picture of the palm side of said finger.
