I'm a student i dont have 700 euros lying around somewhere. There wasnt one spot on this machine of being maltreated so its not my fault. I personally will think twice about buying mac. Why does it have to be so good (when it works) and good looking... i bought the laptop under my fathers company with a little discount. Thats why it doesnt fall under warranty any more. -insert swear word here-

Was it bought from apple direct? If so, they really should be covering it under EU Law for at least two years, more in some countries.

If it was bought from another store, you should contact the other store about their duty under EU Law, though now that apple is already repairing it, that might be tricky.

Sounds like your macbook is haunted. I am a specialist in haunting as I have seen countless hours of TV shows about it. My professional opinion is that you have a device demon in your life that will haunt and wreck any good computer you get your hands on. In order to get rid of this demon, you must perform 7 hail marries. If you get at least 3 touch downs, the demon may be compelled to leave you alone. Let us know if this works.

… I did use a 45w charger some time ago , I think it was before the problem started. It barely was charging with this small adaptor. Maybe this messed up the power management ?

Chatting with an AASP a few weeks ago, he warned against using a non-matching adapter. But when I last looked at Apple Support pages for adapters, I saw no cause for alarm (there was common sense advice including something along the lines of, don't expect to get optimal results from a high-power notebook with a lesser-powered supply).

From my own use of a lesser-powered supply with a 17" MacBookPro5,2 I sense that if the Mac and peripherals are pushed hard, the battery may take longer than usual to gain charge. And if I try that supply with a 15" MacBookPro8,2 that has no battery, the Mac simply will not power on.

MacBookPro11,2 …

A 2015 model, yes? Early or late?

… mavericks …

Hmm, that's weird. I couldn't get Mavericks to install on a MacBookPro11,2 … around a year ago and I recall trying fairly hard, repeatedly (related: Amongst Macs that can be upgraded to support OS X Recovery, can any model *not* accept a firmware downgrade?) but maybe I didn't try hard enough. Or maybe some of the MacBookPro11,2 models (or the firmware) offer greater compatibility.

This is exactly the situation; the Macbook knows what charger is connected to it and will react accordingly - i.e., if it's a 45 W connected to a 15" then the system knows that it doesn't have the power to drive the system at max and also charge the battery, or if you connect an 85 W to a 13" it won't charge the battery any faster.

The fact that you're from Texas, makes it hard seeing the sarcasm in your post. You people believe in all sorts of crap now dont ya? :)

Any possibility of water or food damage with this laptop? Mac seem to suffer from this quite a bit. I have gone to never eating or drinking anywhere near my MacBook.

Absolutely no such possibility. I use mine in the bath. And it makes a great chopping board. Allegedly.

Since learning that the top ten automotive tech influencers include Tim Cook and Jony Ive, it's really – really hard to take anything seriously …

People and their misconceptions of Texans...

Anyway, I meant to get bak to this thread, as I've sat and have been thinking about this for three days. Once the starvation and thirst caused my spirit to become enlightened, I saw the solution. If you buy a PC, the device demons will leave you alone. Their jobs are done for them before they can even get to work, so they find work somewhere else. What I usually do, is just shoot at them. If the Macbook still works, I just connect it to a monitor and it seems to be fine for the rest of it's life. By the way, if you spill water on your Mac, just put it in a haystack to dry it out.

Otherwise just stick to whatever it is you non Texans do, like talk to it as if it were a baby, promise it that you'll single handedly make the environment better and save animals by eating grass. Perhaps put a "Vote for Hillary" sticker on it and make it feel "whole again".

I gotta go put my boots on and tend to the cattle. Let us know if any of this works. YEE HAW!
