I take the battery-health of my brand new umbp (got it last tuesday), and I wanted to know more about how it works, how to maintain it, and get into good routines early.

    1. First of all, when my battery indicator says the battery fully charged and I leave the charger in, how does this affect the battery?
    2. What routines do you have to take care of your battery-life?
    3. What should I try to avoid?
    4. Anything else? any tips around this theme are welcome.

I generally try to get my battery as low as possible before I charge.

    1. The charger shuts off when finished.

    4. Pretty much just use the machine as you like. If it's plugged in most of the time, run off battery once a month (in fact, Apple has an iCal calendar to remind you).

Enjoy your new ubMBP! I bought my 17" last Feb. - it's the best notebook Apple's designed yet.
