You should have higher standards for "premium" products. If I'm spending a lot of money on something and it arrives damaged, I'm going to be upset and not have the flippant "stuff happens" attitude.
BMWs come with factory warranties. Even with expensive items, sometimes “stuff happens.”’ Unfortunately right now we can’t just pop on down to the Apple Store to get it replaced on a moment’s notice. That makes it frustrating.

So apple support disappointed me a bit. They asked me to send it back and then it will be repaired/replaced and they can’t say how long it will take. I then asked if I could get a direct exchange if a added applecare+. That would have been possible if I didn’t open a repair case, now it’s too late.

At the end I ordered a new one which will arrive early to mid may and I will send the broken one back on the last day of my return window. Useless support ...

I’d suggest ordering one from Best Buy (1 day shipment) and calling Apple back to see if they will just accept the broken one back as a return. These are unusual times since we can’t just go to an Apple Store to get it taken care of.

That is unacceptable for a $300+ accessory for an already expensive tablet. I was on the fence about getting one, but seeing this and the other thread with the bubble issues on the palm rest, I'm going to wait a few months before I consider buying one. and if I do purchase, it will be in store.
Same with me, seeing the bubble issues and now this... this is totally a deal break for something that costs over $300!

WOW! That looks fragile! My question is where you simply unplugging it, or did the charging cable get yanked? No blame, it should be sturdier.

Hard to believe but I was simply unplugging it and it came out as easy as an USB-C cable normally would. I was quite confused for a moment because my brain didn’t understand what just happened.

Does the port get warm when it's charging? If so maybe the port is expanding and contracting slightly causing it to separate from it's housing.

I’m so sorry. This is so disappointing For you, and all of us that have spent so much money. Mine comes today.

I found the leads I have on eBay. As I know they are good I’ve ordered another 4 as spares as I have them dotted around the house and in the office

Issues happen you shouldn’t base your spending on one issue.

It’s just bad luck to be honest. Can happen with any product and apple for me has amazing track record. Their customer support is usually the best. Just sucks for me but don’t let this affect your decision to buy a magic keyboard, because I will be getting another one for sure.
