Good. Now I can turn in the cable boxes and save a little money.
Yes, this a new policy.

I got rid of most of my boxes and replaced them with ROKUs and Apple TVs. Still learning the ATV remote. But Siri integration is great.

I have been streaming Spectrum app for about 8 months now. I have 1 box to get the service and stream to 3 other TV's via roku. I have been waiting since June last year to stream on my apple tv. I hope it works.

Switched from spectrum to directv now a year or so ago, doubt I’ll be going back it’s the same exact channel lineup for $5 more at spectrum. I’m sure their app isn’t as good either.

If you had Spectrum internet, I would think it will work. But I wonder if they’re also checking for specific cable modems that are tied to your internet account to prevent something like this.

You have to the tv service for it to work. Spectrum offers a cheap streaming package for 20 to 30 dollars a month to stream some channels and you pick 5 cable channels. I pay for 1 box and tv service to get all the channels.

Dang that was quick and easy! Took maybe 2 minuets to download the app and have up and running with live TV. Now a dedicated controller would be really nice and help navigate. One drawback I see so far is the "info" for a show is not displayed in the guide. Also have to swipe up twice to open the guide it seems.

I wish Comcast would hurry up and make an Apple TV app so I could save some money on box rentals and hopefully they’ll have some cheaper channel packages. I’m not ready to give up cable just yet. I’d still need to buy their internet and without a tv package Comcast charges even more for internet.

It's about time. Unfortunately for Spectrum, I gave up waiting and switched to YouTube TV. Saved me $50/month versus what I was paying for Spectrum and is a better experience.

You made the winning decision. The fact this doesn't work with any other ISP is such a fail.

works for me including zero sign on with CNN, ESPN, NBC apps etc. very nice no more codes!!!

Works for me—just installed it on my 4th gen ATV, non 4K. Works pretty much like Spectrum app on Ipad. I turned off cable box—and no more occasional pixelation or stuttering. Hope that continues—but when it occurred (and we’ve had tech people out a number of times) I would watch in my Spectrum app on 12.9 Ipad. I welcome it TBH—have never had any issues with the IOS app so hope that continues with this.

Also, in this area we do not rent cable boxes, at least not the non DVR ones. And with On Demand we found we never used the DVRs. I use non cable services but still want local, CNN, MSNBC and a few others mostly available through Charter for now.

Just did some testing with it, and TBH it's a pretty garbage app. All channels except premium channels run at 720 30fps with an average bitrate of 3.5mbps and tinny 96kbps stereo audio, even sports channels, which don't look good at all. The only exception to that is premium channels like HBO and Showtime which stream at 720p 60fps with 5.3mbps average bitrate, still the same garbage 96kbps stereo audio though. Even on demand content runs at 720p max. Scrolling in the guide is really laggy and weird as well. And to top it all off, it seems to be doing some weird HDCP re-auth every time you load the guide or one of the different main menu tabs, which can cause a short black screen with some equipment. The only real nice thing about it is the zero sign-on works really well.

Usually the IP address has to match what’s in your home LAN for the channels that are restricted to in-home viewing

Ties to service with modem. Tried logging in with my Mom’s account on my spectrum internet and no go.

Not working here either (not on Spectrum). Well, I guess I'm just gonna keep on using my parent's account on an iPad and airplay it to my Apple TV so I can watch my live WWE (or I can do what I said I'd do and watch the shows on Hulu the next day).

We just got Spectrum through our Homeonwers. So it's contracted. But what is the advantage of watching on Apple TV over just the regular TV since there is no DVR or recording feature? I don't get it.

Cool. Now when the wife is recording 2 shows at the same time, I can watch what I want without canceling her recordings.

Been using it on my Roku for the past 6 years, finally glad it's available on ATV. Will have to download and test it this week!

Just tested it. Service works, but I’m getting annoyed with streaming services that only send 30fps streams. DirecTV NOW is easily the best right now. My DTVN streams are actually less noisy than the actual broadcasts I receive from my Spectrum service!

I have been waiting for this for years. Like 2 years ago I took back both my dvr boxes and bought a tivo. Saved over $50 in box rentals and DVR fees a month and only pay for a $2.50 cable card. I love it but miss having the Spectrum On Demand. I'm in a former Time Warner Cable area now on Spectrum so I hope it works since it's not "Charter". I do have Spectrum internet though. I will download later tonite and try it!

EDIT: It all works great! Clicked about 2 buttons and it logged me in and went right to live TV

I was trying to hold out for this but spectrum internet speed started to drop drastically in the evening. My 200mbps service was only pulling 1-2mbps in the evenings. Couldn't even watch Netflix with no other internet traffic. After spectrum support had me reset my modem a dozen times I dropped them and got 1gb fiber. Same price from at&t. Do Hulu live and Philo to fill the gaps.
