It's definitely not an EU feature. Even though Apple ads are filled with Apple AI references, we likely won’t see it here until at least April 2025.

Siri already broke ChatGPT.

And how are they going to fix ChatGPT in the future when they replace all the employees with ChatGPT?

OpenAI's ChatGPT service is experiencing an outage at the current time, which means the ChatGPT website and app are not available, and the Siri ChatGPT feature in iOS 18.2 is non-functional at the current time.

According to OpenAI's website, the company is aware of an issue that has caused ChatGPT to be unavailable and it is investigating the issue. Functionality will be restored as soon as possible.

Let us choose AI vendor. And/or failover between them. I’d prefer Siri->Grok

I don't think you want to be posting an article every time OpenAI's servers have a small amount of downtime you'll be posting them constantly.

How ironic is it that Siri was better a decade ago than it is today?
That’s because Apple had leaders over a decade ago and that started to bleed off when the new CEO took over because Timmeh is more focused on money and minority rights than great products.

Great products no matter the price drive demand and demand creates the subsequent revenue. Now it’s how can they not innovate and cheapen parts from suppliers with minimal changes to the product.

Hope to see Apple return to the innovative leader we loved and stop following Google and Samsung.

LOL, this is what happens when you trust your Ai to a company like OpenAI.. absolutely not enterprise ready let alone ready for the mass user base like Apple. Seriously hope they let you choose Gemini over OpenAI soon. At least Google knows how to run services.

If Apple is not going to do their own generalized chatGPT/Gemini/LLama/Claude/etc. type system, then they do need to open Siri to using any LLM. No, I haven't suddenly developed a crush on Vestiger. The main problem that I see with LLMs is bias, especially political bias (I'm not talking about petty US politics, I'm talking international west/middle-east/east/Africa politics). People should be able to select their perspective. It's not that I want people to build their own little echo chambers, I just realize it is unavoidable.

That said, I personally find chatGPT to be very useful for web searches and general queries. My use of Google has been decimated and I couldn't be happier about not feeding that beast.

It depends on your measure. It is better today than it was a decade ago, measured against itself.

Siri was better a decade ago because the competition was weak. Now, it lags badly, so it’s not as good relative to the competition.

Perhaps Apple set aside the money that was supposed to be used for custom EU specific marketing for the incoming EU fine because they made the Apple Pencil easy to set up.

I know ChatGPT was down harder than usual, but it’s frequently down for a few minutes at a time. Even when it’s up, it will often make excuses for not being able to do things. ChatGPT failures are not exactly newsworthy.

Perhaps they forgot to pay their AWS bill. I suspect they are spending quite a bit of money on their servers.
That would be funny if they weren't deployed to azure using substantial azure credits from one of their investors, Microsoft...

I counter that. How does one learn what's "good" and "proper"? From examples.

The quality of human-written text on the internet had degraded over the past 20 years, which ingrains the laziness into everyday language.

So many people write "to" when they mean "too". It's infuriating not to have an opportunity to correct them in places like this forum because it's "against the rules".

AI-generated text will begin to expose people to correctly-written text, which should help raise the knowledge level again. It's a good thing.
