It looks nice, but it’s still too expensive for me. $1000 for a 27 inch monitor is pricey. 32 inch monitors start in the $300 range. They may not be great monitors, but that’s the where they are. I bought my Mac Mini with 1TB for $1,099, I can’t justify spending another $1000 on a monitor when I could by an iMac for $1,299. I was really hoping that Apple would come up with something starting at around $500. We’ll see come tomowrrow.

27" is awful close to 24". Considering the most popular sizes of display on the market are 30-34", I just don't see why they'd choose 27 as their large imac size again (and derivative standalone display). What kind of studio wants small displays? Doesn't make a ton of sense.

After using 38" wide curved LG and 30" Apple Cinema displays, it feels like squinting to look at a 27" imac. I think the norm has moved on.

I can certainly see pairing this with my XDR to replace my 27" Thunderbolt. I'd also like to replace my Apple 30" Cinema Display.

You can get a 27” 160 Hz 4K 10 bit HDR 600 monitor with HDMI 2.1 for under $900. Once the monitor gets over a grand I expect to see either a 40"+ screen or a next-gen panel.

It is to keep the price "reasonable". By using the same edge-lit 5K LG panel that they use in the iMac 5K, they can keep the retail price around $1500.

Going to 32" means they have to use the LG 6K panel in the Pro Display XDR and it is reported that Apple pays LG around $1500 just for that panel, so putting it in an edge-lit Apple display would give us a retail price of around $2500.

That being said, it does appear Apple will probably be offering such a display within the next 6-12 months based on rumors, so if you have the cash, you might consider waiting for WWDC and any late Fall Mac event.

Please release tomorrow!

$1000 = instant buy!

Although also including a FaceTime camera and Dolby Atmos speakers would sweeten the deal too. One could hope.

I'm actually thinking of sticking with my trusty old 30" ACD displays. Once you've spent the time and etra $500 per display on all the powered docks and adapters they need to connect, you kinda don't want to just pass them on for $200. Might as well get your moneys worth out of the stuff I guess.

Plus, the 16:10 AR means you're never wasting a ton of space letterboxing for 16:9 or 5:4, and the slim aluminum bezel is a softer, neutral look than a display framed by bold black bezels. The more I think about it, that's it, I'm putting one back on my desk...

I'm wondering how much RAM a display this size would gobble up, anyone have experience running an XDR on Apple Sillicon ?

It's gonna have a power brick, isn't it?
Ideally, it will be usb powered and have a battery, like a big laptop screen. (Does anyone complain about their MacBook having a power brick?) But until miniLED , 27” will probably draw too much power for that.

The issue is if it’s not 120hz then it won’t be worth it, having a bigger display worse than the new 16” isn’t good, so because the MacBook has mini led for hdr and 120hz the display has to match
even if it did have a 120hz display, i'm not so sure whether or not it's worth it. i've been eyeing the samsung g8 for high res, refresh, and image quality. i hate to say it but the macbook 14/16" currently has the worst in class responses times on their 120hz display. i struggle to even call it a "120hz" monitor. hopefully the 27" monitor is better.

That will be a given.

I am going to guess it will be an "either/or" situation like the iMacs (so you can have a stand or you can have a VESA mount, but not the option for both).
Hopefully. Not that I'm in the market for a monitor, but if it cant be mounted on a separate stand or adjust up/down, I wouldnt be interested.
