the mockup doesn't even have a port ?

but on the other hand... what if the new monitors were to offer a 'side car/universal access based on a wireless connection to your Mac/Mini/MBP— its an interesting thought-experiment considering  recent 'mini under a Magic keyboard' patient.

I really hope it is using the QDOLED panel that samsung display is producing!

If it's 27 inches, it's not going to be 4K.

If it has ProMotion 120hz, it won't be a $1,000.00.

It will be IPS, I bet.

Apple has the best LCD's in the business.
27” will be at least 4k as retina are not working with 1440p aka 2k.
1440p (2k) 27” looks like **** on my MacBook Pro 14”. Ppi is just terrible.

27” should be 5k to get true retina but 4k kind of work

Yeah why would I want a display that’s worse than my MacBook

Yeah, it’s a niche case, but I really want a Mac desktop that has the capabilities (including display) of the MacBook Pro but doesn’t cost $12,000. A 27” iMac with mini LED could work, but so could a Mac Mini Pro with a mini LED monitor. Right now doesn’t look like the latter is going to happen and who knows when the 27” iMac is coming. :(

Hopefully with a built-in webcam and speakers.
Def. The XDR doesn't have any of that and it's the second weakest part of the monitor. Weakest part is the one TB port and three USB 2.0 speed USBC ports (unless you have a solid graphics card and maybe the m1's offer enough comps to drive the ports at 3.0 speeds).

If this 27 incher has ethernet and multiple TB ports for daisy chaining it would be sweet.

A 5K 27” display would be an absolute bargain At $1000.
It depends, right? If you’re a video editor or a photographer you want a high quality monitor with the highest resolution. But if you‘re Joe Mac user you‘ll most likely never appreciate the difference between a 4k and 5k 27 inch monitor while checking email or watching YouTube. If Apple is selling this monitor for $1000 then its mostly for the Apple enthusiasts and visual artists that can’t afford the $6,000 offering, not for casual users or users that do less visual work.

I'm a "non-professional" and I can see the difference between 6K and 5K and 4K amongst all the Apple screens. It's a really obvious difference, even if you're just a guy using Office (like me).

99% of the professional Mac user market is not buying the Pro XDR display at $6,000. This display is for literally everyone.

$1000 would definitely be a bit more reasonable than the $2500 price in that article yesterday. Still higher than an average consumer display, but lets see what Apple has to say about it.

guys. i don't have any insider information. there's no way this will go for less than $2,000. Apple prices only go up, never down. last gen were already at least $1400.

(I apologize if this has already been posted somewhere else)

It's interesting how it's going to be a "Studio Display." The last Studio Display was discontinued in 2004. Then came the Cinema Display, and after that the Thunderbolt Display. And then the Pro Display XDR.

What I'm getting at = there hasn't been a Studio Display in over 18 years. MAYBE IT'S TIME THEY REINTRODUCE IT...

I'm VERY curious as to how this event is going to go.
