If you're looking for an iPhone 6/6 Plus.. You should check RadioShack. In order to preorder you'll need to put down a $50 deposit.. And pay the rest at pickup time.

If you think you may find it elsewhere.. You could use RadioShack as a fallback since you don't pay for the device until next week.

I am an employee of RadioShack.. and we recieved internal emails guaranteeing day one shipment. I can't show the emails for job security purposes.

At my local Radioshack they just wrote my name and number on a piece of paper and said they'd call me once they get stock in... they never mentioned anything about putting down $50.

They're idiots then. There is a specific SKU (100-3265) for it.

That's how I got my last iPhone. I'd rather not put a $50 deposit down anyway - I've pre-ordered at multiple retailers so putting down multiple deposits is stupid. They usually call me when they have stock, then I say hold the phone, I'll be there, I go there, they they bring it out for me.

Also, while RadioShack gets less stock than AT&T/Verizon.. A lot less people go there too. I only had 3 inquiries about the iPhone 6 today at work.

I iMessaged my coworker today and he told me that the preorders at my store, best buy, weren't too outta control. Same thing happened last year. Now on actual iPhone launch day, it's a different story. I still remember going to work in the AM last year and seeing the line of people outside the store waiting to get a 5S. I honestly feel for all retailers who have to work next Friday in the phone department, whether it be Best Buy, Apple, Radio Shack, Target, carrier stores, ect LOL it's gonna be hella crazy. It's something you can look back and LOL about during the office christmas party, tho ###

I open next Friday. :3 I preordered my 6+ from my work though so hopefully that'll make the day better. Once I get mine I'm happy.. RadioShack pays us on commission so I'll be making extra money.

You got to preorder yours at your job? Lol lucky. Best Buy wasn't allowing that **** so I just ordered via verizon. And I have a 12hr shift on that Friday and also that Saturday too. Does Radio Shack get really busy on huge phone launch days? Just curious. I've never gotten a phone from there

I suspect a few people but nothing compared to any other retailer. For a consumer looking for an iPhone... That's a good thing.

Bankruptcy isn't instant. It would take them a year or two.

Nope. Once a company files the process starts immediately, regardless if it's chap 11 reorg or chap 7 liquidation. At that point stores no longer are obligated to honor any debt including gift cards. The company's debt repayment plan is worked out between debtors and a court appointed administrator. GC holders are the lowest on the repay chain and typically end up with nothing.
(I'm an atty).

What I meant was I don't think RadioShack would be filing this quarter.

Sounds really ****ed up that people with gift cards are left in the dust for a company that filed bankruptcy and end up with nothing, imo.

My local RS had zero of the 5s last year on release day, none for preorders either.

That is the last place to go IMHO and I doubt you can return the GC.
