My local RS had zero of the 5s last year on release day, none for preorders either.

That is the last place to go IMHO and I doubt you can return the GC.

These are the type of stories as well as my own personal experience with retailers such as RS/Target/Walmart etc that make me not go to them for iPhone releases. They all want a piece of the pie and make promises for product availability on release day but usually fall short. No thanks.

The only place to go would be Best Buy other than Apple IMHO. At least one going there has a fighting chance. Target nor Walmart do not have most electronics on release day in my experience. Even the xbox and PS are very limited.

I forgot what phone it was but I preordered from Radioshack before and ended up not getting the phone form them ( I either got it early somewhere else or they didn't feel my preorder) and the $50 giftcard was non refundable....

Finding anything worth spending that $50 on in radio-shack was like the hardest thing I've done in life lol. Their prices are ripoffs and the selection of products is generally laughable (at least the stores around me). Regretted that $50 so bad lol. I ended up spending half of it on a longer coaxial cable for my living room and the rest eventually expired as I could never find anything worth the $25 that I actually wanted/needed in there.

They have a decent employee discount though - especially on store brand items

A few years ago my buddy wanted an iPad and we checked out BB. They were honest so I'll give them that. But they literally had 5 iPads in stock for launch. It's a joke to go to one of those retailers. Best bet is Apple directly and the carriers.

I went there for the release of the iPad Air. Maybe ten people in line as I was third. No problem whatsoever but they would not tell me how many were available as I did ask.

They're idiots then. There is a specific SKU (100-3265) for it.

They did the same for me (called me) last year. It's good there is a SKU. Just sharing my experience. It was actually the afternoon of launch day. For some reason they got a later shipment (maybe this is normal, IDK lol).

I didn't bother reading that whole screenshot, but that $50 does not show to be a deposit. It shows to be a purchase of a $50 gift card for future purchases.so basically they are hosing you got another $50 for the phone!

I do not buy phones there because if this kind of crap. They tried to pull an extra $79 out of me for a 4s and I had to get the regional manager involved to get it at the normal price everywhere else sold it for.

Yes it is just a normal $50 giftcard. You can then use it to purchase the phone when you pick it up or and use it on cases/accessories or give it away as a gift for Christmas/birthday.

That way, even if you cancel they still made a quick $50 off of you no matter what.

Yes and US Cellular.

Do you offer the new Sprint "rental" plan or just the 2yr plan? I was told by a few other retailers that SPRINT made it so you can only go to the SPRINT store to get it without the 2yr plan. Is this true? If Radio Shack can do this....then I'm on my way to Radio Shack!! :D

Yes and US Cellular.

I just called local Radio Shack in San Diego and they are currently not taking any Pre-orders for 6 Plus....they said to try and call back tomorrow but no guarantees though. I'm definitely gonna try. Nothing to lose because otherwise I am waiting for 3-4 weeks

When the verbiage states to be used on future purchases, I tend to think that they will not let you use it for the phone and a shady way of getting you to buy accessories.

Putting a deposit and buying a gift card are two different things in my eyes. One goes towards the phone and the other goes towards other crap you probably dont want or need, but now need to waste another $50 on other junk

I went over there to reserve one. I doubt that I will get it, but have nothing to lose because I have an order through Apple also. I will use the $50 on a case or extra charger, and I might be surprised and actually receive it on launch day.
(Not counting on that, but you never know.)

You can definitely use it on the phone. I was working here on the 5S launch. Our shipment of 5S came in as an early drop off about 3 hours before store opening.

When I preodered my iPhone through Verizon I had to switch an upgrade date from one phone line on the same bill to mine so I could get the discount but I go a ship date of 10/14 which I'm not happy about so if I cancel that and went to radioshack to preorder would they be able to switch my upgrade from one phone to another? I'm not sure if that's just a Verizon thing or if others like Radioshack and Bestbuy have that capability as well? Hope this made sense...

Is the RadioShack preorder system nationwide or per store? i.e If one store runs out or preorders do all stores run out of preorders?

Will they stop preorders when the district runs out? If you preordered are you guaranteed to get one on launch day?

If you pre-order today, most likely. As far as to if they'll restock preorders.. I won't know until Monday. If people cancel.. Those become available again also.

Do you think that stores will get the iPhone 6 Plus if it is pre-ordered?
