I kept on getting zip or last 4 digit social not matching account error when I try to verify my AT&T eligibility on Apple.com. Anybody got a working response?

No free one year upgrade, going to Verizon ... Final FU to AT&T

That's a huge low-blow. I pay a little over $200 a month for two iPhones and an iPad 3. Now they want to run this on me. Smh

Here is the question; I currently have a tmobile w/o contract. I'd like to bring my phone number to att tonite while I get the new iphone online.

Can this be done in my case? Or should I go to a store to make it happen?

Ps: I even want to be the part of an existing plan with Att which makes it more complicated.

so I want to buy the iphone 5 for verizon at the full price of $650 because i cannot upgrade until sep 2013. would i be able to preorder from apple store at full price?

I was having problems logging in using my AT&T information and password. I kept on getting an invalid password message. It turns out the Apple website can't handle AT&T accounts which also have a passcode in addition to a password. I ended up removing my passcode and now I can see the pricing. I'll add a passcode back on my account after I order our phones. It certainly defeats the purpose of having a passcode in the first place.

If number porting isn't available when you submit your preorder, your best bet is to get a brand new number on the existing AT&T account that you're joining and then, when you get the iPhone, call AT&T and tell them you're porting a number from another carrier and that you want that number to replace the new number on your iPhone.

Can you buy a full price Att iPhone through Apple store? I'm thinking about doing that and getting straight talk $45 unlimited. No LTE is in my area. I have a 4S on Sprint been month to month off contract but I hate the data speeds. Any advice would be appreciated.

AT&T denying iPhone 5 upgrade to eligible customers?

I checked yesterday on apple site for my $199 upgrade eligibility for iPhone5 ; I was eligible to upgrade (AT&T iPhone 4) since July- and apple site did show iPhone 5 for $199 yesterday evening when I checked. But right now iPhone 5 is missing from the list- only shows iPhone4s for $199, 4 for $99 and 3GS for $0!!!! Any one there... any idea???? Is AT&T trying to deny existing loyal customers the chance for pre-ordering??

I checked on my Verizon account and the iPhone 5 is also absent from the list of options. I suspect it's a server-side error. I am currently off-contract with Verizon so I am definitely eligible to upgrade to the iPhone 5 at the subsidized pricing.

Will I be able to buy an AT&T iPhone 5 without a contact? It only ask for carrier upgrade on Apple website.

iPhone 5 is missing from the list for me. But, it was there yesterday showing I have a full upgrade for $199. I'm assuming its maintenance being done.

you can leave at any time to verizon and get a subsidized phone. your number will port automatically and everything.
yer just going to be subject to a ETF from ATT on your final bill from them unless you stay the whole 24 months.
granted after 12 months it might not be too bad. a couple hundred bucks.

i love this topic every time a new phone comes out. everyone signs up for two years but wants a one year upgrade.
was it from the 3gs to the 4 that att let a lot of people upgrade early? and i think from the 4 to the 4s people who were high spenders got to upgrade early. i know my wife who's bill is over $100 a month got to and while mine is sub 65$ had to wait the whole term.

Early upgrade

I've been able to upgrade every phone since I started using AT&T within less than a year. It was several months for 4 to 4S. I assume it depends on how much you spend, what services you use and ultimately how much profit they make off of you personally. Having said that, this go around they aren't allowing me to get the full upgrade price until May? Though they are offering me an early upgrade discount. I was planning on giving the phone to my father then buying an unlocked one for myself. If you are curious my phone bill averages out to $280 a month for my one line.

Long time MR reader but this is my FIRST POST. AT&T's 20month upgrade change has compelled me to speak out. --- I'm a little upset at AT&T too. Since the very first iPhone, I've been on AT&T and upgraded everytime the new iPhone came out. Always had the highest tier minute and other options (I'm still grandfathered in with unlimited data *but we all know what that means*) and this year they charge $250 for an "early upgrade fee". If I'm not mistaken to cancel my contract it would only cost me $225? Plus they hide the $250 charge till I'm finishing my purchase of the iPhone 5 and slam me with $649 for the 64GB. I hope AT&T reads our posts of dissapointment and decides to keep thier loyal customers happy and allow a 12 month early upgrade option for previous iPhone customers. (more than 5GB before throttling our data would be nice seeing as LTE is a data beast).

The only reason I stayed was b/c of the reduced upgrade every year and the ETF. I did it both times from 3G S. to 4 and from 4 to 4S.

Now there is no upgrade offer, so I'm canceling. Selling the iPhone 4S will cover the cost of the ETF.

...

Is it 18 or 20 months to upgrade now on ATT? My wife has an iPhone 4 that she got in the fall of 2010...and she can't upgrade until Nov. 2012. Does that seem right? That seems like a long time to me.

Am I missing something?

There has always been THREE prices from AT&T:
1. New Customber and 24 month renewal exising customer - lowest
2. Exising customer with at least 6? months - Add 200.00 to Number 1
3. No comitment pricing - FULL PRICE - Add 400.00 to Number 1

The price I am seeing for the iPhone 5 32 GB is over 700.00 bucks... does this mean my phone does not extend my contract? This phone should also be unlockable?

I went one step further and attempted to add a line yesterday to see if I ran into any issues.

Glad I did because a pending change to my account would have prevented me from being able to pre-order with my account.

Yes but u can't preorder, this option will only be available once then phones are in the apple stores. NOTE don't buy from AT&T, u would only be buying b...s...t at full price:D

According to the forums over at AT&T, this year is different for the iPhone 5, than it was for the iPhone 4S last year.

Last fall you may have only had to wait a month or so to do an "early upgrade" of your iPhone 4 to an iPhone 4S.

This year though "early upgrade" is now defined as 20 months, not 12 months, as before. In other words you will have to wait another 8 months, until April-June, 2013 to avoid paying a $250 "early upgrade" fee.

You can verify all of this by going to https://www.att.com/phoneupgrade/ and running the numbers yourself for your own iPhone.

This is correct. 20 months for a 5. 19 months for a 4S or 4. You don't have to believe this, but it is an Apple Condition under the sales terms of the iPhone 5. I do not know why.

What happens when you upgrade early at 20 months? Does it extend from the end of the contract? So I basically got 28 months at the point of an early upgrade?
