Question if the main line has an upgrade can another line use it? (For AT&T) When I check electability on my line it says I'm not eligible, but when I check the main line it is eligible. If I go to the Apple store on Friday will they know this so I can use the other upgrade. I know with regular lines you can take upgrades but I'm not sure about the main line.

I contacted AT&T (I got the 4s last year when it was released) and they've indicated I could get the phone for $250. It's not as good a deal as the $199 offer but it's much better than $450.

No, that's what everything so far in the thread states.... The only "early" upgrade if you are eligible is an additional $250 charge when signing a new 2 year contract..

This thread is about the link where you just go to the apple store iPhone 5 link and enter your phone number and it tells you the upgrade price for you instantly. I got my iPhone 4 April 2010. I can get a 5 for $199 on Nov 1. Which will be about a week after most of the people that ordered it on Launch day. Ha!

So that's about 18 months. Which was the case for me for the 3GS to the iPhone 4 as well. 18 months.

Yes but you still signed a new contract which is 24 months. Just because you can upgrade after 18 means nothing. And I was only stating that an early upgrade is an additional $250 plus a new two year contract starting from the date of the iPhone purchase. Only reason AT&T allows you to upgrade before 24 months is to lock you into a new 24 month contract. It's a never ending cycle until the customer caves and pays the ETF or uses the same device for 24 months (or purchases at full retail).

According to the Apple Store app, I am due for a upgrade discount on the day of release, 9/21. I wasn't supposed to get a discount until October of 2013 as my 4S is just from April. This doesn't show up when I check on att, only on the Apple Store app, or through apple.com.

EDIT: Note that it's not a full discount, just a reduced discount.

Are you saying that they told you that you can get a 16GB iPhone 5 for an upgrade price of $250? If so, that's very different from what other people are posting here. Everyone else is saying that AT&T won't budge on the extra $250 fee for an "early upgrade."

I did the *639# on my phone and the text I received indicated I can get a discounted iphone upgrade for $250, plus $36 upgrade fee. This is different than what the online tools have reported.

Hmm... I did the same thing and got the same result as with the online tools. Odd that you would get different results depending on how you check, but if you want to upgrade now, you have the text to prove it in case AT&T balks.
