As for the boots thing... well you know I love me boots :D and I have no real qualms over buying leather goods these days but as a vegan I used to wear non-leather shoes. Bloody uncomfortable too I might add!

The issue of the boots can also go deeper. Which one is worse, killing a cow to make clothes, or using and wearing petroleum? I think that PETA threw a fit when Greenpeace said it was OK to wear leather (environmentally that is, fashion taste is another issue).

I'm no longer vegetarian, but was for a few years. The most annoying thing was the number of meat eaters who used to question my choice, and continually bleat on about it at any given opportunity. When I was a veggie I never used to comment or criticise anyones food choices and wouldn't normally tell people I was vegetarian unless they noticed something I was eating and asked.

In fact out of all the (admittedly few) veggies I know, none of them comment or pass judgment about meat eating, unlike the meat-eaters out there.

Vegs who make jokes about enjoying the cheese and crackers and side salad at the formal dinner.

this reminds me of christmas at my grandparents' house this past year. i've been a vegetarian for almost 4 years now...the only meat i will occasionally (and i mean like twice a year) rarely cheat for is chicken. everyone in my family knows this. so every meal at my grandparents' house goes something like this: steak, baked potatoes, succotash, dessert...i always end up doing everything but the steak, and i never say a word about it.

this christmas, dinner consisted of: ham, shrimp, crab cakes, baked beans with hamburger and bacon in the sauce...and a cheeseball and assorted crackers.

my meal consisted of cheeseball on crackers and some baked beans that i had to pick the meat out of. i was a tiny bit upset, but i didn't say a word to anyone about it. :(

back on topic :) , i do eat cheese, but i try not to eat a lot of it. i only eat egg-beaters, not whole eggs, but that's because of the cholesterol/fat issue.

But, all to often I have seen where there is an expectation that I must cater to your consumption desires while you refuse to prepare a meat when attending to me. This is where much of the animosity comes from, I believe - the argument that you must be catered to, but I can "suck it up" and have a veg meal.

The problem is that many vegetarians feel that it is morally wrong to abuse and murder another animal when its not out of necessity, whereas meat eaters don't see plants as having been mistreated when they're offered them instead of meat. So the animosity is really stupid is what I'm saying.

I wish people would just eat what they wanted to eat and shut up about it already. I get harassed all the time for not wanting to eat pieces of a dead cow. Sheesh, you'd think there weren't more important things to bug me about.

I have dealt with both annoying vegans who shove it my face that eating some animal product is wrong just keep bothering me about it. And I have dealt with the other type as well that just state that they are a vegan and choose not to eat meat and they now I eat it. I do not insult their eating habits. The most I do is ask questions about it and they are out of curiosity and they understand that I just wondering about it.

As for dealing with the annoying ones I found a very easy way to do it and that is take what they are saying and throw it back in their face with a responds that you do not care.
For example I was eating a hamburger and the vegan stated that I was eating meat and it was morally wrong and it was a burnt cow and some other crap.
I look her straight in the eye and responded. "I am enjoying my very taste burnt cow and I am going to keep eating it and that I am a member of PETA (people eating tasting animals). It quite effected at ruining her entire point and honestly did piss her off because I willing to bet I basically took her stuff chewed it up and spit on it but it got ride of her and made it clear that I did not care about it. Just have to do it with out missing a beat.

Now I have no issue with vegans and I applaud them for willing to do what they believe for what ever reason. Just I am never going to be one because honestly I like meat and they are part of the food chain and I just happen to be at the top of it. Seem nature to me so I am fine with it.

It works. It really does :)

Sorry but I find it ironic and hypocritical that vegans tend to worry about the rights of animals over those of the homeless
Usually the homeless can fight back if you try to eat them. Usually. I gave a homeless guy my leftovers once and he complained because I didn't give him a fork and apparently, he'd rather I gave him money for booze. Another time, I gave a beggar 5 bucks, so he offered to watch my car when I went inside a restaurant. Was just getting drinks, so there weren't any left overs, but he thanked me when I came out, saying I probably saved him and his buddy's life for another couple of weeks. Was cheaper than parking :p but I still felt bad I couldn't do more. :(

At least I didn't eat him.

You mean food doesn't exist?
Pretty sure religion exists. ;)
