He did, and he was a brilliant and thorough scholar, but he was also embedded in his time and the knowledge of that time, 130 years ago. In a similar vein, Freud was a genius, but he also postulated that wearing makeup was an expression of the neurosis in womankind. :eek:
 
However if you went back to 18th Century France you'd see it was very popular… that practice you were refering to and then deleted so coyly. ;)

This point you make, however, is true. ;) Which, I suppose is why it was not a Frenchman who coined the term. :D
 
It pains me that so many American actors shave their chest. I noticed that Canadian and Aussie productions let the guys go natural. I find it so much more interesting. I do however notice that chest hair is getting a bit more popular over here but I don't think women with underarm hair will ever be excepted.
