If this is louder than the Airtag I would totally get it. My Tile Pro is much, much louder than my Airtag and my parents, who have poorer hearing can hear the Tile Pro but not the Airtag. Also, the Tile Pro let's you change the sound it makes (a few different songs with various pitches which are easier to hear). If the Chipolo is louder, and lets you change the sound it makes it may be a winner for me.

You get free "out of range" alerts with Chipolo's other trackers. I hope this new ONE Spot comes with that feature.

It'd be nicer if it didn't say "Chipolo" on it... 🤣
To me, the name "Chipolo" is its best feature. It's fun to say. #2 being the hole.

Ultimately however, $28 is just too high. There are a ton of cheap AirTag key chains (about $6/each) on Amazon.

To get it in Norway the “Chipotle’s” are more expensive than Apples Airtags.
4 pack of Chipolo will cost me NOK 1275 plus the fee the shipper will charge for import, compared to 4 pack Airtags for NOK 1099. And Apple pays the import costs. Both have free shipping.

I’m glad I only bought one AirTag and not the pack of 4. I will buy Chipolos instead. The precise location on AirTag is only precise if you are in the same room. It’s such a gimmick, relying on looking at the arrows on my phone, just make it play a sound and you’ll locate it. For me the main feature is access to the Find My network of Apple devices and Chipolo has that. It has a hole, it’s black and won’t scratch as easily even without a case. It will be a plus if it doesn’t have the unknown tracker alert so I can also get one for my bike.

That's awesome, it's actually less than half the price as Apple Airtags since there's no way to attached an Airtag without spending the extra $35 for the keychain.

I think people who have focussed principally on the cost differences between AirTags and the One Spot are missing the point. I have bought several AirTags and they're great, though not as big an upgrade on Tile as has been made out. But having to buy a holder to attach an AirTag to anything adds cost and, in the case of putting it on keyring, also bulk. A bit like buying a superthin phone and then immediately putting it in a rubber case to protect it. Plus the Chipolo looks pretty discreet on a keyring.

I assume the One Spot is just like a Tile, albeit it can be located using other people's iPhones so it should have the better finders network to fall back on, and Tiles are certainly "good enough" in most situations. For things that don't require inch-perfect accuracy, they will be a good alternative.

I think the real savings is that this device, unlike the AirTag, because it has the keychain hole, would not require one to purchase an additional keychain accessory. Using the "Belkin Secure Holder with Key Ring" which Apple sells for $12.95, the full price savings would be more like $13.95.

The question then becomes is the U1/PrecisionTracking/IP67 feature worth an additional $14?

EDIT: looks like Chipolo is also only rated IPX5 where AirTags are IP67; therefore I added it to the difference list ^
So far I've used the chirps 0 times and the precision tracking a few times. I know my keys are in the same room, it's easier to know where it is directly instead of trying to figure out where the sound is coming from.

I prefer this design for my keys. I don’t want a big leather holder for a little tag.

I’m guessing that will be relatd to their app/network.
Yes, but if they wanted (and Apple allowed it,) you might be able to keep it on the Chipolo network until you actually lose an item and then switch to the Find My network to hunt down your lost item...

edit: I went to Chipolo website and it says the ONE Spot works "exclusively" with the Find My network. So no "out of range" alerts. Oh well.

It's like making an unofficial phone case and charging 1 dollar less than apple's for it, except worse in this case.

You are forgetting free engraving lol. IMHO make it $22-25 to go against first party. A $1 difference is too low even if it has a hole.

I had high hopes for these, and have still ordered 2, but I think that they are priced too high. Especially as there now cheap AirTags cases available. For my usage, tracking keys, they need some sort of some sort of hole/adapter.

I do expect that they will wear better than the AirTags though - mine (in the Belkin case) are already scuffed up from launch day.
This thing’s ugly from day 1 though.

I scratched up an AirTag deliberately on delivery so I wouldn’t be precious about protecting it (and annoyed when it got scratched). The steel looks good scratched and the white plastic doesn’t show the scratches, so I don’t think it’ll be a problem.

The Chipotle though - so ugly!

I’m happy to be corrected as I’ve ordered 4 but if the Find My app doesn’t support that feature then neither will these tags.
