So how many of you out there run?

I run with my iPhone. I'm not interested in having an emergency miles away from home and not have ability to communicate. Lots of people do run with either a phone, iPod, etc.

Why are you bashing?

So the apple watch has to be tethered to an iPhone to use all available functions.

That doesn't mean it isn't a heck of a device.

And it doesn't mean it doesn't function without an iPhone

Why must everyone be negative.

If the apple watch isn't your thing ok.

Who cares how much it costs. Did you buy mine for me?

If the price point, functions, operating system, developing company are not to your liking simply don't buy it.

But don't be so critical of someone who is running for a charity, funning a marathon, and doing it showcasing apple products.

She was asked to be a spokesmodel... Not you...

I admire her a great deal. She has been successful as a world class model in a ferociously competitive industry and as an athlete who turns in excellent times in a sport (marathoning) that most of us can only dream of finishing at all.

She has the drive and self control to turn idea into reality. She walks the walk.

I think she's hot.

Yep, I would like to be in that shape when I'm 46!

Oh yes. She has got reduced lungcapacity due to early-stage emphysema so just running and doing such a great result too is a great effort! Really inspiring! (and a smart way to do PR for her own charity too!)

"Although she quit smoking at age 26, the damage had already been done. "The really frightening thing is, there was enough of an effect from my smoking that it caused permanent damage," she told the British newspaper. "When I started modeling I wanted to appear more grown up, and smoking easily did that for me. By 16 I was smoking a pack a day," said Turlington, who had her first cigarette at age 13."

Preach it, brother.

I run trails with my phone. Just in case I stumble upon a bear who needs to send a quick text or something. It sits in a waterproof fanny pack out of sight most of the time. I'm hoping the Apple Watch will give me useful information about my run in more useable form. Same when I'm on my bike.

Hoping it lives up to its potential.

Even though I have a Garmin watch I still bring my phone as well. I use a flip belt though. Can't stand arm bands. Also while cycling with a Garmin I still bring my phone in a jersey pocket.

Just under her goal? She destroyed her goal.

Absolutely. If you're a runner you know that ten minutes in a marathon is a HUGE deal, especially considering that she was able to beat her goal pace consistently for 26 miles, and it wasn't just any goal pace - as another member said, she qualified for Boston by a country mile...this is incredibly difficult to do. The Apple Watch likely had little involvement in her accomplishment, but props to her for her new PR and for earning it under an international spotlight. Amazing job.

Cardio Queen. Too skinny. I prefer the sprinter build myself. This woman is CLEARLY underweight and not a good body image model for women.

Seems like you have to strap alot of gear on you just to run...

That isn't really atypical for a runner, and it's almost necessary if you want to run marathons. Low weight means less strain on the knees and ankles over a long run.

Be honest, with the high profile "blog" or whatever, this doesn't really sound that impressive. I'm not saying it's not a great time in its own right... My own mother who's older just did the Boston Marathon with a decent time and she didn't have any fancy Apple Watch to aid her.

Just expected something really impressive and newsworthy. At least to promote the product.

Relevance to anything? I mean good for her but why should anyone here care? It's like reporting on the latest ratings for "Grimm" because someone on the show uses an iPhone.

Lol, I'm guessing that you missed Tim inviting her on stage during the Apple Watch event & gushing praise for her?
She was the 1st celebrity endorser... weeks & weeks before Pharell got an Apple Watch.

This is a lame excuse for an article. If you wanna promote the Apple Watch, at least find something better than this.

The message is that the Apple watch can help you achieve your personal fitness goals.

(Also, why don't you ask your mother if she thinks this is impressive?)

"Personal Record", or PR, is an incredibly common term in all forms of running. Christy Turlington Burns broke her personal record. She set a PR. The phrasing is fine.

I know the phrasing is fine. "The horse raced past the barn fell" is grammatically correct too. I'm just agreeing that the title of the article was confusing at first glance.

I think you must be accustomed to seeing a lot of fat people. Where do you live?

I'm just thinking she looks fantastic for 46. I wouldn't have guessed anywhere near that.

I really enjoyed her articles. I got the Apple Watch primarily to track fitness, and her blog posts about how she used the Apple Watch to do this were interesting.

It was little things like "I use the 'Other' category for this type of workout. These use-case articles can be informative.

Sure, they're run through Apple's editorial control, but I don't think anything she said was patently false. They were a good read.

No, I didn't miss that. But that was about the watch, this is about her personal accomplishments. Which again, is nice for her, but IMO not relevant to this website.

Well... that's certainly AN opinion.
Not mine, but ok.

I think she just missed qualifying for Boston.

Edit: Nope, I'm wrong. She did
