This isn't an attack against you and is rather unrelated, yet tangential to the OP. Do you remember "back in the day" - Chrome now marks all unencrypted websites as ‘not secure’. And how some people were losing their mind over it? Swearing off Chrome or Firefox or Safari because of the warning that they or the users they oversee were going to get this message? Arguing against securing the web?

I just kind of wonder what people who were opposed to Firefox, Chrome, and Safari marking websites as "not secure" are thinking today... Are they still grumpy? Does this make them even grumpier?
Another great feature, and the more protection the better really, I think unencrypted websites shouldn’t exist anymore (unless for very small, blog style websites, but even then, just get encryption).

That's how free products work, you're the product bro.

Welcome to 2021.

Google isn't the only company to blame for this but if it makes you feel edgy, knock yourself out.
The problem is not the free model. The problem is the persistent, invasive tracking. The average consumer is: a) unaware to the extent of it, and b) unable to break out of it regardless if they use Google products or not.

Not really. There are plenty of Chromium browsers that are free and open source. You still get the same base feature-set as Chrome, including its extensions and site rendering, along with anything else the browser’s added.

Not really. Always ask yourself, how do they come up with the money to sustain it. ViValdi and Opera? The only sustainable chromium browser is Brave which is sustained by cryptocurrency and you don't have to join if you don't want to, its OFF by default and is open source. The only one I can think of is Ungoogled Chromium that is more of a community hobby work.

Firefox does it off donations but their contract with Google is drying up and they might go bankrupt. They laid off their employees.

Well, Apple is whoring you out by taking billions to feed your search results to Google. Personally, I don't mind targeted ads over random feminine hygiene ads but what I do mind is putting too much of my data in one basket. Apple has your fingerprint, face, health, financial and who knows what else. I'd rather divvy it up so not one entity has everything.

I dislike the idea that Apple has allowed Google to be its search engine by default. However, for the other data, it is pretty private and secure.

Secure Enclave stores keys (256-bit) that manage sensitive data such as passwords, your credit card used by Apple Pay, and your biometric identification to enable Touch ID and Face ID. This makes it harder for hackers to gain access to your personal data without your password. These keys are unique to your device and they’re never synchronized with iCloud. This is why even if you do an iCloud backup on a new device, you're always prompted to re-input Apple Pay information and re-do FaceID or TouchID.

Your health, iMessage, and Home information are end-to-end encrypted through iCloud. Only you have access to that information on your devices.

Apple makes it pretty easy on what you want to personalized and what you don't. It's just a matter of delving into the Settings App.

Of course, none of what I mentioned matters if anyone reading this is a conspiracy theorist, an Apple Hater (though I don't know why you would be on this thread) and or fully skeptical of everything.

When one entity holds all your data in one basket you risk losing everything when there's a leak like the celeb private photo leak.

I have Apple products dating back to 1977 but not a blind sheep. If you think that way, anyone not an original Apple user shouldn't even be on here. OG Apple users only then.

Ad blocker. Turn off ads personalization on Google Account settings.

Easy fix. I don't know why people make such a big deal about this.

There are many other ways to use the collected data that serving ads directly.
