I believe that Help Me Write, when used in conjunction with Apple Siri and the Vision Pro, can be a powerful tool for creating and editing documents. It can help you write better, and it can help you write faster. But it can also help you create and edit documents more efficiently. For example, if you are writing a report, you can use Help Me Write to generate a list of the key points you need to cover. You can then use the Vision Pro to create a visual representation of the information you want to include in the report. Finally, you can use Help Me Write to generate a draft of the report, which you can then edit as needed.

The air fryer example displayed in the article has it already hallucinating... how does it know this particular one is in good shape or works great?

I wouldn't mind some help completing or fixing my sentences and improving my grammar, but how many people are either going to become liable (or shirk responsibility) for something the machine said that they didn't supply, didn't mean, and/or was not true?

This is ****.

Chrome is adding Help Me Write, and other browsers like Brave/Edge/Arc/etc. are pushing the envelope and adding even more built-in integration with various chatbot / AI services.

Meanwhile, Safari is, uh... well maybe it's "snappier" this year...?

(Glad to see Apple just keeps pushing the boundaries of technology. :p)

I can't wait to see the excuse that public schools come up with to continue using computers in classrooms. It's going to be impossible to stop cheating unless they ditch them all together and do everything in class via old-fashioned books, paper and pens/pencil.

These generative AI tools are always being described as a "single model", but surely there is a pool of models being drawn from, each specializing in different areas of knowledge?
That’s not how LLMs work.

“This is an experimental Al writing aid and won't always get it right.” ;)

Really, this is a tool for generating what a text would typically look like for the specified situation. Describing a good condition is more likely than not mentioning anything about the condition, so that’s what it does.

Good gawd, AI writing is unnecessarily verbose. What could be said in 2 sentences becomes a whole page.
...actually, for those two examples any self-respecting millennial or Gen-Zer would convey the information in 3 textspeak TLAs and an emoji... :)

It reminds me of the papers people write in English class that strictly follow the examples in the book with no sense of personality.

I’m here to find out which flag to disable this
Suggest you try using Brave if you really want to see a browser block ads, pop up's and so on. Neither Safari and Firefox do it so well. Speedometer2.1 HTML5 tests are almost as fast as Safari in usage.
Brave removed Google code from its Chromium to improve user privacy, including some account integration, background sync, and inline extensions. There is also a "Tor mode" available for use, which provides anonymized onion network routing.

I do find this Help me Write feature interesting, but does the normal user need help that much?

From the time we were first allowed to use calculators in maths class, my ability to perform simple mathematical tasks diminished rapidly.
I have reason to believe that I'm not the only one who has observed this for themselves.

Similarly, while the technology on display here is interesting, I have very little doubt that people's ability to form proper sentences without any help will be negatively impacted by it.

Fun times, considering that "text speak" and social media have already set this in motion.
