I have Brave on the side, if I ever need another browser. But Safari does the job well, with iCloud Private Relay. uBlock Origin Lite, Next DNS, all bases are covered.

I use Safari and only have Chrome and Firefox installed as backups in case something doesn't work with Safari (which I haven't encountered in a few years now).

My scores for Speedometer 3.1 (without changing any settings, and with four tabs already open in Safari):

Chrome - 54.0
Firefox - 44.9
Safari - 40.7

I do notice an ever so slightly snappier response in Chrome and Firefox vs. Safari but not so much that I would change. In day-to-day use, Safari already feels fairly responsive for me.

Speed stats like that mean nothing to me.

1. Privacy / trust. Apple clearly wins here because privacy is in their DNA. Google doesn't even come close. Google's primary reason for making a browser is to farm information about the people who use it.

2. Efficiency. Apple wins again. No other browser conserves resources / battery life better than Safari.

Put it to the test. Open 20 tabs at once in Safari and look at your system's resources. Then close the browser and open the same tabs in Chrome and see it for yourself.

The web stopped being worth my time when advertisers found it. Everything that happened since then was cosmetics. It’s sad that Macrumors isn’t on Usenet, but here we are, I guess.
Sooooo... you've been off of the web since 1994? Wow... what an interesting disconnected life you must live.

And how are you posting to this forum, again?

How's it doing with CPU usage and my computer getting really hot? Did they ever resolve that? I use Chrome everywhere except on my MBP because it always used to make it run hot.

Every single modern browser is fast enough in 2026. Even Edge.

I know Chrome used to have memory issues that they cleaned up. But doesn't Safari still lead in that area, as well as in terms of battery performance?

At least with Safari I know that I am secure and private. And it's still pretty damn fast. You're talking milliseconds for certain tasks. I imagine the new Safari coming soon will have some improvements as well.
