As an alternative to each of those browsers, I like The Atomic browser. Always works well for me and has some good features. Safari never gives me a hard time on my Air though..... Must have got really lucky :D

Why do you say that? In the tablet market, Apple has a 60-70 percent market share. Maybe with smartphones, it's lower, but it's still around 40-50 percent, according to this article:

http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2013/11/10/apple-android-market-share-2/

And according to this article, its saying that iOS is over 50%, with Android around almost 30%.

Even a market share of 99% cannot indicate dominance in any market, especially in IT market where a brand new undertaking can always take you down and your rivals are always at the back of your neck.

A dominant company should be able to change prices, quality, etc. independent of any rivals.

So Apple is far away from being in dominant position in the OS market than Microsoft.

Att. vinegarandsalt :)

(I feel like I took work home with me lol) let's continue discussing browsers ;)

Because iOS doesn't dominate any market share.

Actually, I think it's because Microsoft's monopoly reached across all brands of computers, while IOS is only found on Apple's own products. In other words, they can do what they like on their own devices, but Microsoft is (or at least was) installed on 85% of all PCs, meaning they spanned all brands of computers. That's really an unfair monopoly.

Forgot to add that I recently started using Chrome (was using the Atomic Browser on my iPad and Firefox/Waterfox on my PC), and I'm very happy with it so far. As someone else mentioned, the bookmark syncing that actually works won me over.

I've got both installed, I use Safari more, it just feels smoother and faster overall, but I use Chrome a lot to especially if I visit a site that redirects me to mobile on Safari as at least with Chrome I can change the user agent.

Safari for me because I like the bookmark icon. Accessing bookmarks in Chrome doesn't have as nice a flow as Safari does.

I use Safari mainly for Keychain access and Chrome on occasion like when I don't need Keychain and happen to have to open a link in Gmail.

I prefer safari. Admittedly I've never tried it on my ipad but trying it on Android was enough to put me off even trying.

Because iOS doesn't dominate any market share.

Hahaha, you are so funny. The differences is that Safari comes on Apple hardware, will Explorer is sold via third party hardware. This buindeling of third party hardware with Explorer is where the problem is.

So I tried to listen to a youtube video in one tab in Safari and then change to another tab to browse the web and The video would always pause.

Is there anyway to do this in safari?,

I downloaded chrome and chrome will allow you to play a youtube video in one tab and allow it to keep playing while you browse in another tab.

Alot more convenient but I love the look of safari better.

You can easily do this. Start playing the video, then when you open a new tab, swipe up to open Control Center and press the play button. The audio from the video starts playing again.

I use Safari on both my iPhone and iPad and never had an issue. I tried Chrome a few times and just kept going to Safari. Never had issues, bookmarks sync up, passwords, and just like it more.

Chrome on iOS is handicapped compared to Safari and the interface just seems clunkier. I like how the menu just disappears in Safari as opposed to Chrome. And of course the swipe right to go back. Little things like that make it a jarring experience to switch to Chrome on iOS.

On Mac, Chrome is an absolute resource hog so I tend to stay away from it if at all possible.

Safari is my daily driver for browsing, but I do have Chrome installed for the occasional website. Browsing a lot of websites on the iPad has been frustrating lately, as so many websites automatically load their "mobile optimized" version of the site which is slow and clunky compared to their desktop versions. With that said, a request desktop site feature for Safari on the iPad would be so ideal.

Chrome is outdated

I stopped using Chrome because some of the websites I need for school require 64 bit Java plugin. Why is Chrome still using the 32 bit version of the plugin? Besides this reason, I'm already giving Google a lot of my search data already and I would prefer not to give it my entire web history. I generally use Safari but I use Firefox when I'm experiencing issues with Safari.
