Really wish they would offer a software upgrade for the current gen Uconnect. It's got more than enough oomph to run CarPlay.

I asked that very question to Chrysler customer service... Here was their response:

FCA US LLC has not released any information regarding the future support or integration of Apple CarPlay into our current Uconnect Media systems. Technology is changing on a frequent basis and hopefully in the future Apple CarPlay will be able to supported.

Hard to tell, hopefully that means they're considering it. What I can suggest is that everyone go over to http://driveuconnect.com/contact-us, send them an email, and request that they provide an update to support CarPlay for existing models

I click the link to send an email and it just sends me to Chryslers home page

Husband just bought a 2016 Ram 1500 Laramie yesterday...it didn't come with CarPlay but wonder if it's an update that he can do later on...I know he will be upset if he just missed it by a couple months and so will I!

CarPlay may require new hardware and if it does you'll likely not be able to have it in your dodge ram. Although FCA just updated their 2014+ jeeps to have Siri eyes free with just a software update

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles ahead of CES today announced the fourth-generation of its Uconnect infotainment automobile system, which will bring Apple CarPlay support to select cars manufactured by the company in 2016. The Uconnect system uses an 8.4-inch touch screen for users to interface with various Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep models and control music, navigation, and phone calls.

CarPlay will allow FCA customers the ability to sync an iPhone to their vehicle and gain access to their music library, contacts list, navigation settings, and text messages all from the existing Uconnect touch screen. Besides CarPlay support, the 2016 update to UConnect will bring along a capacitive touchscreen, speedier startup times, enhanced processing power, heightened UI response, and better resolution and brightness.

In addition to Apple CarPlay, the fourth-generation UConnect system will support Android Auto for non-iOS users. With today's announcement, FCA joins a host of car manufacturers that are introducing CarPlay support in some of their latest 2016 models, including Chevrolet, Honda, and Ford.

Is this a fact and if so had there been any updated info? I'm in love with Jeep's New Summit model and I'm looking to purchase in September/October but I refuse to spend 54k if the vehicle doesn't support CarPlay? Anyone have any info?

When is Mercedes supposed to support CarPlay? They demoed it almost 2 years ago...
Looks like they will have it in almost all 2017 models according to apples CarPlay info on there site!

I've been tweeting with Uconnect and they told me CarPlay will not be available in any 2016 model year vehicles. Totally sucks.

Over on the jeep garage forums they say CarPlay will come out in 2017 on the JGC but not until later in the year so the initial JGC's that roll off the assembly line won't have CarPlay either but it'll be present in the ones produced mid year. Ugh

Well, at least I'll already be a year in to my 3 year lease... ridiculous how slow Chrysler has been with this, should really be an easy thing to implement.
