I used Kakewalk and I have a 4890. Still needed the QE/CI patch from Netkas and one or two other packages which you can find links for at InsanelyMac.

You have an X58A – Cindori had the EX58. They're not the same motherboard, and yours doesn't have the same audio codec as the EX58-UD5. You can either go with a USB solution, or I believe iBoot (or perhaps Kakewalk, I don't know) has the necessary kext for you.

I wanted to wait for the Define R3, but i pulled the trigger on a brand new Cooler Master HAF-932 from CraigsList for a great price. Thanks for the inspiration, Cindori! I now have a 4.2GHz i7 Hackintosh. It only took my spare time over two days to get running and the hardest part was figuring out the wireless card (re: installing the kext properly). I now have the MacPro I always wanted for <1/3 the price!

so happy to see many people getting inspiration from this :)
I thought this thread would die within Page 1

just FYI there might be a new project coming up... Cindori Ultimate :D
will see what winter brings

very similar boards, but thankyou for the correction, i had misread which board he had(late night posting). My audio is one revision newer IIRC. Have tried iBoot, will try kakewalk.

Have you tried Multibeast? I've read that it has the necessary kext.

Hello to all. I want to buy a new pc for music production. I want to use logic studio and cubase (so maxosx and windows7 - dualboot)

the price should be around 1300$/€ without monitor.

my setup till now:

i7 950 (lol here in some stores it is even cheaper than a 930 or 920) wtf?
GIGABYTE X58A-UD5 S1366 or the UD7?
RAM Corsair DDR3 6GB PC1600(CMP6GX3M3A1600C8)
SSD Crucial 64GB SATA3 2.5" C300 RealSSD -system disk
4x SAMSUNG 500GB SATA2, 16/7200 F3 (HD502HJ) : raid 0 + 1
GIGABYTE NVIDIA 460GTX, 768MB (GV-N460OC-768I) - i am not sure about the graphic card :S

what you would buy with this budget? I dont want to flash bios or something. I want to get it to work without any flashing. Can someone help me please?

I will use this guide -> http://nofilmschool.com/build-a-hackintosh/ (or is there any newer and better guide specially for the UD5 or UD7 motherboard?)| BUT - will the procedures be the same with the UD5 motherboard or is there something different when installing? Whats the main difference between UD5 and the GA-X58A-UD3R? Which one is causing more problems with hackintosh setup? Also I am interested if the Crucial SSD will work with macosx because in our country are there no many choices when buying a ssd, half of them is not available.
And another one important question. Is there any directx 11 graphic card on the market which works with hackintosh,(with hdmi output and multi monitor support)?
In fist place I really wanted the UD7 board but no one is talking about it, why? I know it is overpriced but I can get it almost for the same cash as UD5...so why not?
I will mostly produce music in DAWs like cubase and Logic Studio so the next important question is which PCI-e soundcard should I get? The price should be no more than 300$.
I know I have many question but I hope someone will help me. please :) and tnx in advance :p

PS: I just to want to build a system that is up to date with the newest hardware possible. I want to pick the most "suitable" components to lower the number of not working devices after I install leopard so that I at the end will have a fully working dual system that offers good power and stability. thats all folks :)

Processor is fine. The UD7 should be okay, but the UD5 is easier – check your audio codecs for both, though. RAM and hard drives are fine, but I'd skip the GTX 460. I'm not sure about HDMI output, but you can easily flash a 5770 or 5870 for a hackintosh. Apparently the GTX 470 and 480 work as well, but they're not so easy to flash.

Hello, tnx for the answer. I think I will get a compatible card like geforce gtx 2xx series.. I should get it for 150$. I dont want to do much tricks. btw: one big question

what is the difference betweeen

GIGABYTE X58A-UD5 and GIGABYTE EX58A-UD5? I saw a really nice and long tutorial on youtube -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RZs-wAAxyg
but this guy is using a EX moBo and I cant get it anywhere. I like the video guides more than text because its a lot easier. do you think if i get the x version the setup will be the same?

Whats the main difference between UD5 and the GA-X58A-UD3R?

UD3/UD5/UD7 boards are all the same basic hardware. 5/7 have 2 LAN's.
The Rev 1 boards were more hack friendly.
The Rev 2 boards (currently on firmware FB) have different audio hardware that is less compatible, but works with the right setup.

Look on the forums at tonymacx86 - guides for 3/5/7 are all interchangeable as long as you have the same graphics card (or know what do change for yours). Not sure about the rev 1 boards, but the rev 2 boards will require drivers/kexts for the network port(s). Realtek just release some official drivers, but there are some beta user created drivers on tonymac that are subjectively 'better' (limited testing indicates they have better performance).

Unless you know what you are doing, plan on doing the whole thing twice. Once to figure out how to get everything working right, and a second time to just do it the 'right' way to make sure you didn't leave any junk out there.
