I still crack up every time I see the "loud motor noises" rumor pop up.
Until plentiful charging stations become readily available in all corners of the developed world, and battery technology evolves to the point where an all-electric vehicle can be fully charged in as little as 5-10 minutes, hybrids while not 'perfect' vehicles and still fairly expensive in upfront cost, are for now the most practical alternatives to all-gasoline or diesel engines, while arguably also being more environmentally friendly.

If true, those previously reported "loud motor noises" to me would point to, at the very least, research into hybrid-cars-in-essence (but not in detail of course) not unlike Toyota's Prius offerings, and more than likely (via a to be introduced "carOS") totally integrated with iOS and CarPlay and God knows what else. If Apple were to go that route, I'd expect the gasoline motor to be relatively small and purely for battery charging and back-up purposes.

Needless to point out that even an Apple hybrid would have to be reasonably priced for mass adoption to become a reality. Toyota's Prius vehicles, while technologically awesome, at this point are still more of an "I care about the environment" statement, rather than a vehicle that is inexpensive to own and operate; it currently simply takes too long to recoup the upfront premium thru gasoline savings.

Any of dozens pieces of manufacturing equipment can make a "loud motor noise." Why anyone would interpret this as being the sound of a car motor let along any other specific thing takes us to new heights of fume-breathing wishing thinking. It's a case of tea-leaf reading without any actual tea leaves.

Hopefully many country will soon follow Neatherland and ban the sell of gasoline and gasoil cars. And maybe shortly after ban them from the road altogether
[doublepost=1460440920][/doublepost]That would be way more innovative and interesting.

First of all, it's The Netherlands.

Second of all, it's a proposed ban, hasn't even made it to their legislature for consideration.

Third of all, what good are electric cars if the electricity they store is generated by coal-fired plants?

Cracks me up when people think that gasoline powered cars are the only reason for the environmental mess. What about the manufacturing waste that kills off microorganisms in the ocean that convert as much CO2 as an entire rainforest? What about tougher industrial air standards? What about alternative energy power plants? It's such a giant mess and fixing one thing isn't going to help much until things get fixed across the board.

"Loud motor noises" were heard from an electric car development site?

If it's priced like other Apple products...

Then the base price for the model that can go 160 miles without a charge will be $49,999.

For every 160 mile range expansion that costs Apple $1,000 to add, they will change an extra $10,000.

And a lucrative third part market will arise, selling windshield protectors that will require incredible skill to install without seeing air or dust bubbles.
