Bought it and it's running absolute great on my M2 Max on 4K, seeing the PC requirements was a bit in doubt but seems fine. Haven't played in the later ages which seems the big crush on the CPU, but is a great native game.

Im finding im feeling a bit lost and disconected playing it. ive played and enjoyed every edition back to civ 1 on my centris 610 30 odd years ago, and this is the first time im just clicking on things randomly and dont have a handle on what im doing.

Anybody tried CIV VII on an M4 Pro or Max? Curious on how well it holds up, particularly at max settings.
Playing it on a M2 Max and max settings on 4K and running great so M4 Max will do a lot better. Think a pro will do fine, cpu power is what the game needs for big turns.

Isn't that how most games start?

They made some big swings with it

The UI is definitely in a beta state right now but I like the gameplay for the most part
Especially the diplomacy, the resource system and the legacy paths

I am enjoying it, though the three different stages can be a bit fast. Also in the modern age the control of planes is a bit weird. They polished most of the bugs out with path 3. It is definitely worth 69 euro's as this game will last a loooong time. And it is running good on almost all mac's native which is great to see. But then again everybody decide for themself :)

Anyone playing this on a M3 Max (MBP16) wondering if even putting it on lower settings would prevent all the fans from firing on? I;m about to grab it on Steam next payday possibly versus getting it for PS5 Pro

Doesn't look good for Civ VII

I'm waiting for the price to be reduced, there's no way I'm willing to spend 70 dollars on a game at this point. The reviews have turned mostly negative and so people are dissatisfied with the game

'I don't know if it can be saved' — Civilization 7 is in trouble as it drops to a Mostly Negative rating on Steam
I did, however, make note of many of the game's downsides, including the paid DLC schedule, a lack of Information Era, and how the game's new Age mechanic made some matches feel clunky and disorganized.

That last point seems to be causing a lot of grief for players. One user with 263+ hours of playtime says:

But fact of the matter is, if this wasn't a Civilization series game, and if I hadn't been playing Civ games my entire life, then I would have dropped this one very early on.

Peak players when the game has launched was 84,558 now the peak is 12,226. Just a handful of months later.

It's hard to top Civ 6.

I have held off on buying Civ 7, waiting for a sale. Ive been playing Civ since 2. After reading the reviews this might be the first one i skip. It seems they went two steps forward and five steps back. How do you guys feel about the 3 age changes and civ swapping? Is it more of a thematic disconnect, or does it actually ruin gameplay?

I also read that the EULA says they are allowed to sell your information. True?

No, CiV VI is an expansion game and in CIV V you get punished for expanding too much.
I like the graphics better in CIV V.
I struggle with everything you have to keep track of in 6 just to keep up, and considering you also pretty much have to be expansionist or you'll very quickly fall behind anyway, for me it goes past the point of being 'fun game' to being a micromanagement grind. 5 is a lot simpler, but actually feels like you can play it how you want. Tall and wide are both valid paths, albeit yes you do get punished for too much expansion, but you can overcome it if that's how you want to play. 6 railroads you down building a big empire in which you can choose what victory path you want to focus on, but you do need to have the empire first to have a chance, so tall is rarely an effective strategy. I think some of the expansions did try to add civs that have a better chance with more compact empires, but it's still a sub optimal play style.
