My money is on it just not existing at the moment. Doesn't make much sense to stagger release dates for two diff but similar phone models.

The iwatch doesn't need to go into production yet since it's a new product launch, much like what we saw with the ipad when it was first announced. Announce the product, build demand and then launch.

Mine too. Remember around this time last year we had leaked parts of the 5s and the 5c, especially the 5c. 5.5 does not exist, and like you said, iWatch will be announced months before launch to build hype and block prospects for competition

the iWatch has not made it to production supply chain yet.

5.5" iPhone - sorry, not going to happen

Apple wouldn't let the 5.5" rumors go this long if it wasn't true. They'd "accidentally" let a few top, well known analysts know it wasn't true so people wouldn't go crazy when it didn't happen.

It's also possible that the 5.5" phone and the iWatch are being produced at another manufacturing partner which has tighter security, or they haven't hit mass production yet.

Maybe using those new Foxcon Fembots.

This looks larger than 4.7 to me but it is hard to tell......, and I also agree that Apple would slip some insider info that a 5.5 wasn't true. After all, the Wall Street Journal and several other sources have all stated there is a 5.5" phone, but disagreements as to when it will be released. Even if it's not the majority, there are a lot of folks wanting a larger phone and I believe this 5.5 rumor would be very damaging if it turned out not to be true. This is different than a notional shape or design of the phone that turns out not to be true.

5.5" iPhone rumor came from Samsung.

If you ask me it makes a lot of sense for Apple to delay the phablet, even if there are no production issues- If they announced it in October they could steal some of Samsung's Note 4 thunder...

I'm not sure I'm excited for a 4.7 inch display. I've never had a phone larger than the 5s. Admittedly. I was afraid of buying the 5s because of the larger screen. Now, I'm not sure how I lived with the small screen of the 3gs that I had prior.

Prepare for the exact same sequence of events and feelings this time too. Soon, most of us will be looking back at 4" and 3.5" and wondering how we got by with such puny screens.

I'm really starting to think the 5.5 inch is not going to happen. No real parts have leaked, just mock ups. I think Apple will keep in 5S and 5C along with the new iPhone 6 as their three models

I have just tried to told my Samsung Galaxy Note II (due to it's size) in my hand the same way the person in the photo is holding the rumored iPhone 6. And just as I suspected, it fits in my hand quite simular to the rumored iPhone 6 in the photo (On the counter though, I have no idea how big his hand is compared to mine). That phone in the picture does look a little too small for a 4.7 inch display in my opinion. But hey, I don't know, just hope there is a 5.5 inch iPhone too!

You're assuming that Apple was the one the started the rumors. We had even stronger rumors about the 'teardrop shaped' iPhone 5 in 2011, and even cases were built for its leaked specs, and boom, we got the iPhone 4s.

To be honest,I'm not that excited anout iPhone 6,unless iOS 8 is a major improvement over iOS 8..and the current concept / leak graphics of iPhone 6 look boring to me.it's very likely that I choose a samsung or sony phone this time.
I do not enjoy using iOS 7 at all.

I don't think the 5.5 exists for the sole reason that we're only seeing leaks of the 4.7". The leaks can't be contained so we'd be seeing them by now if it was launching at the same time. It could be launching later as has been speculated but I'm really hoping that's not the case.

They will change the name of the 5s to the "Tall"

and the new 4.7 will be the "Grande"

and the 5.5 will be the "Vente"

If that's the reasoning, then the 4.7" phone may not happen either. No real parts have been leaked of it either, just dummies and mock ups.

Thanks for that. We've been waiting all day to hear your decision on your next phone.

Honestly, I don't really remember many rumors on the teardrop shape. Either way, I don't see us NOT getting a 4.7" and a 5.5" iPhone.
