I use alcohol prep pads. They work great and they disinfect. Look up how many germs are on your face and on your phone. Now my buddy douches his with windex. I couldnt believe it. He sprayed each side with windex twice.

most bacteria on your face is what is considered natural flora ( staph, streph, corny, etc)

unless you are immunocompromised ( disease,weakness,hiv, etc) you really do not have to worry about it

though it does sound like your friend might have OCD

I throw my iPhone in with the weekly wash, it comes out sparkling.. Just make sure not to throw it in with reds if you have the white one..

the important thing is to avoid using cleaners that have alcohol or ammonia.

iKlear claims to use neither.

i use Walmart eye glass cleaner. for $3 or $4 you get a small bottle (with UNLIMITED refills!) and a small microfiber cloth.

i use it for my iphone, eyeglasses, sunglasses, and mirrors

The only way to remove grease or oils is with an astringent like alcohol. As long as you spray it on the cloth and not directly on the phone, glass cleaners won't do any harm to the iPhone.

I use windex too, it works wonders. The screen is glass, after all. Two sprays per side seems pretty excessive, but you can clean the entire body with windex and it makes it look brand new.

i think the guy referring to germs was referring to MSRA and other dangerous bacteria contracted elsewhere, not natural bacteria on your face. Hospitals, gyms, public areas etc. Its starts with disinfecting your hands really. There have been public health studies regarding hand to phone to face contact. incidence is debatable. but best to be be safe. i use alcohol prep pads once a week with my phone. Ocd? maybe. but i'm a student working for an mph, its my business to be paranoid about these things

the other reccommendation ( which i have had for about a week) is to have an anti glare screen protector, ive yet to have to "wipe my phone"

I'll second this, the DLO AG screen protector really limit how much you need to clean the screen.
