Deleting calls? Why you would need that feature?

Does it really matter? We want to delete. You don't. It's all OK.

Apple makes it easy to do on the iPhone for a reason. It should be just as easy on the Watch. Correct?

----------

I cleared all the calls on my iPhone. But there are still some on the Watch that I can't figure out how to clear. If I swipe them, they just try to dial.

Any ideas?

I don't know why you are having a problem my watch syncs my call log fine but I do turn it off every night, maybe try that?

oh oh!!!! don't let the missus see that watch! :D;)

I can only think of one reason to clear calls - and this is it.

Can someone explain another reason?

I'm honestly being curious here. Do you clear calls like people clear email, so you know what is "done"?

OK. For those people who require that we have a good reason to want to clear the recents, here it is. We have OCD. Happy now? Is that a good enough reason? I also clear my messages, and my trashed emails. I clear my recents on my iPhone periodically. It's one of those things. Happy now?:rolleyes::eek::cool:

Lol - I can buy that :)

I was just wondering if there was a workflow with "recent calls" I wasn't aware of :)

I'm the opposite. I'm a call/message/email hoarder. Never delete anything. My recent calls and messages are my short term memory. Without them I wouldn't remember what the hell is going on ;-)

Before my recent calls used to go away but now I have calls from the beginning of the week that are not cleared on my apple watch but I deleted from my phone. Apple must have a fix soon

Selling anything on Craigslist, you wouldn't want all these random numbers in your recent calls.

Being an Uber driver, you wouldn't want all the numbers.
For that matter, any job that requires you to call any kind of customers, multiple ones a day. You just don't want all these random numbers clogging up your recent calls log.

Same can be said for text messages. I wanna be able to delete message threads on my phone and have it disappear on my watch. Plenty of security texts, including Facebook and Chase bank get sent to me. Random people off of Craigslist contacting me via text.

That is what I am thinking why would you want to delete your recent call list unless you were hiding something from someone?

It's unfortunate that you think your way is the only way. Read the previous messages, please. Does it really matter why someone wants to do it. Apple thought it was worthwhile to provide a mechanism to do this on the iPhone. So why not on the watch? Thankfully most at Apple don't think like you do!

Billy,

I am not pushing my way on anyone. I am simply asking a question.

It is unfortunate that you think this is unfortunate but that is your right, too!

This is a forum where people mix it up and have different ideas.

Have a great weekend.:)

Clearing recents from my phone worked for me on the watch. It was pretty much immediate and all were cleared. Clearing Messages on any iOS device does not clear them on any other device so that's not likely to change for the watch.

And I clear messages as well as my recents fairly regularly, I don't consider that unusual. Just like to have a fairly neat looking screen/app. I never have understood why some would have hundreds or even thousands of unread emails, but even some of my own friends do so I just shake my head and go about my business.

It's always good to clear calls once in a while.

- you reduce the risk of butt dialing the person by accident
- you lend your phone to someone and you don't want to risk them seeing who you've been calling
- you just don't want to deal with an ever-growing list.
- you're a neat freak, and you don't want to leave things as is.

Anyone find a work around besides un-pairing the watch? I got a replacement watch the other week and there is still a call log that is on my watch on not on my phone.

Clearing recents from my phone clears them on the watch. I didn't realize that all recents on my phone showed up on the watch even if they were all made on the phone. I would just try restarting both of your devices and wait a little while for everything to sync. Those recents should get cleared. Un-pairing the watch is a big step but if nothing else works you may have to. But they are supposed to clear when you've done so on the phone.

I just cleared my recents on my iPhone and they are gone on my watch also. No time lapse at all and no sync.
Os2 beta 5 doesn't delete messages if you delete from the phone. In case someone was wondering. Some say this is as planned while others want the choice.

Mine was working properly when I made that post above but since then not so much. It's very odd in that some recents do get deleted when I clear them from the phone but there's a long list of numbers that have "stuck" on the watch even when there are none on the phone. My guess is it's some kind of iCloud issue since all my devices are using the same iCloud account and if I go to my other devices, mac, iPad, etc., I can see those calls listed in Face Time. But deleting them from there still doesn't clear the watch.

Interesting in conversation I had with Apple support I was told this was known issue that would be corrected in Os2

This is now March, 2016....Still can not delete calls from my watch that are no longer on my phone. I have worked very hard with my exercise data, and I am afraid that if I unpair my watch with my phone, that I will lose this data and all my achievements... Yes, both devices are up to date. Any suggestions????????

I like you have the same issue and want to clear my watch but decided to wait for the next watch os which should be out soon which I am hoping will resolve this issue that some of seem to have

When you unpair your watch it will back up your data to your iPhone, when you repair it will restore your data
