I just saw this thread, I am having the same issue after updating to 11.2

It makes a loud clicking sound when swiping up from reachability and the control centre too for me. It is a very loud clicking/buzzing haptic feedback and it sure wasn’t there before I updated to 11.2

Other people have replied to say it is affecting them too

Yep, sometimes I can hear it too.
I hope it’s not hardware related. If you create a new vibration pattern in settings you can sometimes hear the noise as well. :/

I’m almost certain this is just a software error because it’s only happening with control centre.

It doesn’t seem to be happening noe that I’m on the newest 11.2 beta.

Thats wierd because i just downloaded 11.2 and i realized that it started happening for me only with 11.2. I got kinda worried at first because i thought my phone "cracked" by itself when I never dropped it and am EXTREMELY careful with it. Hopefully there is a software update fixing it and its not a factory defect

The only time I get the vibration with the clicking sound is when my ringer switch isn’t set to vibrate and when I flick the control center up from the home bar or when I flick up from the home bar to dismiss reachability. I noticed the clicking noise right after I updated from iOS 11.1.2 to beta 5 of iOS 11.2. It’s been like that ever since.

iphone X and I just noticed that when I close the control centre I get a weird vibrating/click. Not like any other haptic on the device.

Not noticed it before and it only happens if I swipe up from the very bottom of the screen, if I close control centre by swiping up from slightly further up the screen it does not happen.

Just curious as I’m sure it was not happening before. Anybody else?
This is my second IPhone X , the first one had issues while calling ( very muffled sound ) but didn’t make that clicking noise even on 11.2, now my new device makes that clicking sound too, control center swipe up and reach ability swipe up, really hope it’s a software issue but feel like it could be hardware issue and I’ll go the Apple store to see what they say. The clicking noise is actually pretty annoying

Please report back here what they tell you at the Apple store. I have the clicking noise too and am interested.

There is another thread about this same thing. Just got my x last week and while I get the vibrate I do not have the crackle. Nor does it show up when changing vibration patterns. Is it possible this is only on earlier built phones? Am on 11.2 as well

I forget how to check the build date but maybe that's something to explore

nah i dont think so.my x is 2 weeks old and it came with ios 11.1 out of the box and i did not have this issue on 11.1,11.1.1 and 11.1.2 just the other day when i updated it to 11.2.im pretty sure its a software bug.

Clicking here as well, but not 100% of the time. Seems to be only two very specific conditions:

  • Swiping up to dismiss Control Center using the home bar, with the sound turned on, using iOS 11.2
  • Swiping up to dismiss Reachability using the home bar, with the sound turned on, using iOS 11.2
Dismissing these in any other way results in no click or vibration. Same goes for any iOS 11 version prior to 11.2.

I’ve been holding off on the update because all I’m seeing are complaints but few people without the issue. I have a launch day X and wonder if I’ll get this issue with 11.2.0 or not.

Can we get a show of hands from X users on 11.2 without the issue?

There will be none. It’s a software thing. Not really an issue... just a... thing.

My solution has been to tap on the home bar to dismiss the control panel or reachability, rather than swiping up. Good to see they fixed it in beta, but now I’ll have to forget the new “you’re dismissing it wrong” way of doing it.
