Nice! I'd like to put Brembos in my car, but it would be silly in my Prius LOL. I agree ilk not sure how people get their licences and keep them. I know the rules but also know wavy gets enforced where so there is always a give and take. But there is no excuse for running red lights. I'm not talking like yellow to red as you are crossing the intersection or the oopsies red where you misjudged the yellow. I'm talking about the its very red and people still go. Makes me go...

Turning left in a controlled intersection, recap

You may enter an intersection when the light is green.

If the light turns yellow or red while you are still in the intersection, you are still fine. Just wait for the oncoming traffic to stop, then you go.

Simple.

Caveat:

Does not apply when there is a red arrow.

If there's a jurisdiction (in the US) that doesn't allow this, please provide a citation or link, I'd be happy to know about exceptions.

Drivers who brake hard when they realise they are going past a speed camera even though they are driving below the speed limit. In other words they don't know what the speed limit is.
Drivers who reverse of their drive into the road.

Oh trust me I know the rules lol. I can handle my car. I have great brakes (Brembos) and I have Radar detector. I know that's not an excuse but I am not really tailgating them, just getting close behind them and backing off. Trying to give them a hint in other words. Idk where half of these people get their license. its not hard... left lane is passing (not passing anyone? then get into middle) Middle lane is Speed limit ( not going speed limit? get into right lane) right lane is slower moving traffic (going below the speed limit? Congrats you now know the lane rules) :D

If it's a four lane highway, right lane is for below limit people, one over is for at the limit, one more over are the slightly above limit, and the left lane is get out of my way *******. :p

The best thing I ever saw when driving was some jag-off going 65 in the left passing lane (speed limit of 70). It was annoying. Having to pass in the middle or right lane, where frequent on-coming traffic is trying to merge onto the freeway, is much more hazardous.

Eventually a cop comes up right behind the slowpoke in the passing lane. He does nothing and stays in the passing lane. The cop then turns on his lights to pull the guy over. He makes his way over to the right (not enough room on the left). Then when he goes to pull over, the police officer turns off his lights and speeds by.

I made up a sign that I wear on my backpack when I'm on my motorcycle...

I was taught that whilst turn signals can show what someone is possibly intending to do, you should never believe them until the vehicle is actually performing the maneuver. Yeah, it's made me cautious and wary of other road users, but *touch wood* I'm still in one piece.

Has your sign ever backfired on you when forgetting to cancel your turn signal though? When I rode aged 16, once I'd completed a turn I'd cancel the signal and then 15 seconds later hit the cancel button again and so on, just to make sure (perhaps a little OCD). I will say that riding helped me later on in driving. Need to keep your attention about you (which so many car drivers really don't), also once I was familiar with the controls (manual transmission) in a car and maneuvers, I'd already had some road sense about me.

Although the Prius has the worst brake feel in any car I've driven. The regenerative aspect of them feels like you're losing stopping power. From my time with a Prius, it's definitely not a driver's car. Brembos may be good, but would give you a hit on mpg...

Some of my biggest pet peeves.

1. Someone is making a right turn and just sitting at the signal waiting for traffic to open up. When the street they are turning onto has a dedicated and shielded new lane for people turning right to. Designed for getting up to speed and merge with traffic. They built this so that people could turn right without having to wait for traffic at busy intersections.

2. Polite people at a 4 way stop sign. When you have the right of way you are expected to take it. Not hesitate, stop and then let me through when I don't have the right of way. By being polite you are interfering with the flow of traffic, and effecting the confidence of the person whom does not have the right of way but must now proceed causing more time delays from hesitation.

3. People that use a stop sign to check a map or do some other task. Now everyone else approaching the intersection is confused. They expect you to go and now have to wait longer until they realize you are not going and cautiously proceed.

4. People that decide they must make their turn instead of proceeding to the next point where it is safe to turn around and get back on course. You know these people. Blocking a lane of traffic to cut into the line of cars making a left or right turn. Suddenly cutting you off or several lanes to make their exit or turn. Cutting over dirt embankments to exit the freeway when they realize they are missing their exit.

5. People that won't let you in when a lane ahead is closed due to construction. It's not my fault there is road construction in. However you are legally obligated to yield and let me in if my front bumper is ahead of yours and the lane is ending.

6. People that don't get out of the way of an ambulance in a clogged intersection. Squeeze, jockey, get up on the curb. Do whatever you can to make an opening that does not endanger you, or someone else. Someone may be dieing get out of the way!

7. This last one isn't so much do to other drivers but the lack of signage. I hate getting onto a road and there is no speed limit sign. Now I don't know what speed to go at. If a cop pulls behind me I now have to drive what I think the lower end speed would be until I finally can spot a speed limit sign. The other annoying lack of signage is making street names difficult to find. How can I make a left at lets say Baker St. when I can't find the street name?

The opposite can be said. Take advantage of the lane closure to force themselves ahead of the backed up traffic.

No, in many states, you are not allowed to camp in the left lane on say interstates regardless of the speed you are going

http://www.mit.edu/~jfc/right.html

Florida is an exception, Bush was obviously after the "senior" vote. :p
"Governor Bush vetoed 2005 SB732, which would have reserved the left lane for passing, saying that drivers blocking the left lane are "cautious and careful.""

You don't even have to hit them. In new jersey following too closely is a 5 point ticket. Its most likely a similar offense in other states.

It's been a while since we've had a good road rage thread. I wanna play!

• Left lane blockers or anyone else who impedes the flow of traffic because they are oblivious to their surroundings.

• Drivers not pulling up close enough to the car in front of them at stop lights, thereby creating a long line of cars that end up blocking the turn lanes that split off near the intersection. I've been noticing this one a lot lately. People leave multi-car length gaps between themselves while at stop lights. I'm not saying you should be right up on someone's bumper, especially if you're on a steep incline or the driver in front of you doesn't know how to drive a stick, but 3 car lengths in flat Florida is ridiculous.

• Cell phone drivers.

• Drivers who miss their turn and nearly create a pile-up trying to make the turn. Or drivers who miss a turn and stop in their lane and block traffic while waiting to be let into the turn lane. Or drivers who blow an entire green arrow light for everyone behind them because they want to instead go straight, but the straight lanes are on a red light...so they sit on the green light, blocking the lane waiting to cut into the other lane.:mad::mad: Clearly these knobs never masted the simple art of driving another block and making a u-turn.

• You pass a driver on the freeway. A few miles later, they come up and ride your ***, so you let them pass. Then you come up on them in a few miles, so you pass them again. Repeat over and over for about 100 miles.

That's all for now. :)

For me, I want people to move. If you're going 25mph on a flat road on a bright sunny day with flat empty farmland on either side of the two lane 50mph limited road, you need to put your foot on the gas. Of course this doesn't apply if your car is belching smoke, but it rarely is.

And when accelerating, again, foot on the gas. Make the pedal go down. It shouldn't take you 45 seconds to reach 30mph then another 30 seconds to reach 50mph. This may just be my dislike for modern automatic transmissions, but it bothers me quite a bit.

Lastly, if you stop in a line of cars waiting to go through a light. Don't leave a car's length in front of you. Leave about two/three feet, not eight. Move up. It'll enable one more car to get through the light. I suggest corrective lenses, they'll make your life so much better and safer.

You may enter an intersection when the light is green.

One thing about this, within Pittsburgh city limits, if the light turns red and one of your tyres is within the intersection as marked by the intersection lines, you can be ticketed. The reason is "obstructing opposing traffic flow". Such a law may apply in other places as well. However this seems to be a new-ish law as of the last 5 years and most police don't seem to know it yet.

When paralell parking, people leave an enormous distance between the car in front of them or behind them, but not quite large enough to fit a car in. If nobody did this, the block could probably fit 4 or 5 more cars. Especially annoying because parking is scarce where I go to school.

You wait for the green light to turn right? It's one thing to come to a complete stop and clear the area and then go, but to wait for green when it is legal to do so when it is red?

Not usually, but if I'm in a busy area I am not familiar with, I don't really like "finding the gap" in the heavy traffic and going for it. Locals behind me apparently don't appreciate this.

The opposite can be said. Take advantage of the lane closure to force themselves ahead of the backed up traffic.

That can be annoying too. In my area often times a sign will just say lane closed ahead. So you don't know which until you see cones or cars ahead of you moving over.

I do what you say, but I recall reading that there are some areas here in Alabama where that's not technically allowed.

One of my pet peeves is drivers who don't know how to merge. They come to a complete stop in the merge lane and then wait for a gap in traffic. IMO, the only valid reason for stopping is when traffic in the lane you're entering is also stopped.

My biggest one, and this is constant in Atlanta, is people who pull unto a backed-up intersection when the light turns yellow so they can get through on that cycle. By doing this, they block the other direction's traffic from moving. Recently, my wife hd to sit through six light cycles as the second car in line at an intersection because so many people pulled out into the intersection at each cycle.

I also hate, hate, hate when three or more lanes are stopped for a one-lane interstate exit. Now, I've seen people say that this is the way it should be, but I don't but into that.

People have done that to me. I was going to Union Station in DC. There was some event going on where there was a lot of traffic. I was stuck at this one intersection for at least 3 cycles because of people going into the intersection. Sometimes I wish I drove this..... Would just push my way through.

See that 5,000 Dodge Durango parked in the handicapped spot in front of that building? Don't rear end it again. I know it's kinda hard to notice and all...
