What constitutes "nothing good"
Faster processor?
Better camera?
More memory?

What constitutes "something good"
Bigger screen?

I get the impression sometimes if they add all this new tech in an iPhone 4 box and call it 4s it is crap

But if they make the screen 4" and don't do anything else and call it an iPhone 5 it is golden

I think it's just due to the horrible design of the iPhone 4. If the iPhone 4's design was proper without issues, like the iPhone 3GS, then i think people would say that this is a huge upgrade. Because people are afraid the external design will be the same, they're saying that it's a minor upgrade.

Ok, I'm just nervous because I waited 16 months to upgrade my iPhone, and it will possibly be another $300 for nothing good. And I can't wait until next year because I am giving my iPhone 4 to my dad.

Also, the invitation said "Let's Talk iPhone", so I'm not sure...

And you're nervous for waiting 16 months.. wow... Big lesson for you. don't ever plan to give away or sell something until you know for a fact that the replacement will be better.

I'm still on my iPhone 3G. I wasn't eligible for 3GS, and because of antennagate and no White iPhone 4 (I wanted to look at both before making my decision), I waited. I'm on 3 years, but jailbroken and unlocked.

No, we KNEW it had a front-facing camera, and it wasn't in a 3GS shell. Don't you remember Gizmodo buying the "found" iPhone 4?

You're right. I was thinking of the 'XX' being on the back of the phone Gizmodo 'found' and remembered seeing that on a 3GS shell. mea culpa.

Getting rid of the fragile glass construction, fixing the antenna, and adding a bigger screen would be a more substantial upgrade than anything you listed.

Processor speeds are irrelevant -- if they mattered, iOS5 wouldn't be able to run on the iP4 or iP3GS.

No worries. Looked back at my post and it seemed kind of dickish. Didn't mean for it to come off that way.

No, Tim walks out on the stage. Hi, we are introducing the iPhone 4S. It has an A5 chip, better camera, 64 GB, improved antenna, and Assistant. Five minute demo of Assistant. Thanks for coming!!

Meanwhile, tech journalists flew out to California for a fifteen minute presentation. Does it make sense to you that they would only introduce an iPhone 4S?

Btw, iOS 5 has already been introduced. They are adding Assistant to it. It doesn't need another hour.

Well you already made up your mind.

It wouldn't be logical for Apple to have a spec bump for a phone that's been out for over a year. Especially with greater competition.
