We're hitting those speeds, 9-10, with the 4S on ATT's 3G/HSPA+/4G network. That's last gen tech.

In Midtown Manhattan during the week, I'm lucky to get 1Mbps on AT&T's "4G" HSPA+ network. I can hardly wait until Friday to get LTE speeds.

Even without lte I would probably have stayed with att if their regular 3G/4g service actually worked and did the whole making phone calls without people asking me if I was underwater or calling from space.

this is why i have an ATT phone and a Verizon iPad.

Same here. I get around 20-30 mbps on my iPad. Hoping that it's even faster on my iPhone 5 with AT&T. I called AT&T today and asked about their LTE coverage in Denver. They said that they are almost finished with upgrading one tower to LTE and about a month or two out from having 3 total. The lady told me at this rate there should be around 10 towers or so in the metro Denver/Boulder area by the end of the year.

Both AT&T and Verizon have 4G in the areas I travel so I'm fine either way.

I lol when I saw Sprints areas.

The exception to your generalization is if you live in Texas. I don't feel freakin' Waco is big enough to warrant lte. Because they're in at&t's home state, they reap the benefits.
At least lte is coming to Portland this year.
Looks like AT&T went with the largest markets by population to start with. Probably a wise decision from a business standpoint, but yes it sucks if you happen to live in a smaller city or rural area of the country.

I'm in Seattle and a buddy of mine who works for AT&T says we will have LTE by the end of the year so I'm fine with the iPhone 5 on their current network for a few months. Those that are thinking of jumping from AT&T to Verizon don't for get that with Verizon you can't do both voice and data at the same time. To me that's a big trade off.

On the coverage map as "coming soon", pretty sure those are for before the end of the year...

Heh, at least it's one of the cities AT&T is planning on having LTE in by the end of this year. I'll take data and voice over LTE (oh, and unlimited too. Oh and the fact that AT&T is much cheaper than Verizon for me, that too).

eggcellent guys thanks for the update. Honestly i'm not upset; the only time I use mobile data is the very short time when i'm not either at home or work; I just listen to music on the commute!

As a Kentuckian, I find it offensive that VZ has more 4G coverage spots in Montana than in Kentucky.

Being on AT&T though, it's all for naught anyway.

ugh. Can't sprint just put enough towers to make a frownie face on the map?

I'm getting a 5 but My city isn't on phase one or two of their LTE rollout so the 5S will probably be out by the time I can use that Sprint unlimited LTE...

Sprint LTE is already going live (well, "pre-launch" or whatever they're calling it) around Chicago, and speeds sound competitive with ATT/Verizon. Think ima bail ATT 2gb for Sprint unlimited. It'll even be a couple bucks cheaper, lol.

All three networks have LTE in Waco. It's because of the parking lot that is Interstate 35. The real mystery is why Sprint is rolled out in Granbury, TX, population 8,000.

Really? I get 4-5 Mbps over 3G on my iPhone 4 consistently on the UES.

Too many people on the network near my office. AT&T has done various "fixes" yet it is still an issue. On some floors getting a signal at all is next to impossible, but I'm near the top of the building where AT&T has a signal repeater.

I can remember when CellularOne was a hodgepodge of local affiliates and driving 55 miles out of 'the big city' left me roaming with one of the other affiliates and from miles 45-50 I had no service at all. ANd that was just voice service.

I won't sweat limited LTE. It will fill in before long. And there will be at least some reliable albeit slower connectivity until then.

If you hang out around Redmond Town Center, you'll notice that LTE is already up and running there, thanks to the AT&T offices there.

Has AT&T confirmed VoLTE?

in raleigh, NC we have both verizon and att lte...ive heard att is a little faster.
I will know for sure soon enough..but att 3g in this area is pretty fast as well.
