Huh?

What do you think is inside those Thunderbolt devices? They have Intel Thunderbolt controllers.

There are dozens of Thunderbolt enclosures for RAID. Those enclosures have an Intel TB controller. They also have a RAID controller from a company such as HighPoint. Those RAID controllers are all ARM processors.
Those RAID controllers, eGPU, etc. are not controlling other thunderbolt devices. If you know of any ARM-based computers with thunderbolt ports I'd honestly love to know about them. Like I said before, I've heard rumors of AMD based system with thunderbolt but never seen them in the wild.

I would love Apple to bring thunderbolt to the iPad. I just don't see it happening for a number of reasons.

Why does the ARM-based RAID controller have to control other TB devices?

The ARM processor already controls RAID system, just like an ARM-based iPad Pro with Thunderbolt would.

None of the reasons you suggested make any sense, just as you didn't think Thunderbolt devices would have a TB controller.

I have no idea why you keep bringing AMD into the picture. There are plenty of people who have hacked Thunderbolt into their AMD desktops. Intel doesn't certify TB on AMD systems for obvious reasons.

I am also suspicious about the USB C; why would Apple want to use only USB C outright for iPads despite the newer phones having Lightning? Will we see another dongle situation again?

I do not care if my iPad has a different port than my iPhone. In my entire history of using iPhones (beginning with the first model) and iPads (also beginning with the first model) I have never had a reason to connect my iPhone to my iPad.

UK has had CCTV for decades now, privacy concerns sure. However I don’t hear the locals loosing sleep over it. There are “security” cameras in many public places you visit, and larger cameras orbiting over. I am aware the technology exist and has been used, my point is either do something about it or disconnect. With TouchID and prior there were still cameras on flip phones and are we to cover every mic. Maybe recommend to Apple to have a hard toggle/button for the camera.

You seem to not understand the difference between ‘public’ and ‘private’ spaces.

My point is more about the accessories and that some people do actually care about needing the same connector for both devices for various reasons (e.g. simplicity, not needing to buy two of each accessories) I am neutral since I am using an USB C Android smartphone as my daily driver and have already USB C stuff that can easily be used on the iPad Pro 3 too should it be on USB C but I can't discount the fact that others may want to keep things simple by having only Lightning until both devices are on USB C only

There is a grey area for many when compared to public and private. For example, if you are in your fenced-in backyard most would consider that ones private space, however there are satellite and drone cameras that can monitor you. Unless you consider your private backyard a public space.

People have IoT security cameras in their homes for private use, however those can be hacked and the feed can be made public. It is no different compared to having a camera on a mobile phone for private use, however can be hacked by external agencies or users for public use.

I’ve been using an iPad Pro 10.5 as my primary computer for over a year, and the only thing I really miss is being able to connect it to a big display, in an easy way without just having a 1:1 representation of the iPad on the screen.

This rumour suggests that Apple really gets it — the iPad is fast becoming the laptop of the future.

You don’t miss the ability to save files into a place of your choosing? Or the ability to simply move files on and off (without iOS pretending like it doesn’t know what an “mp3” is? Much less how to play it...).

Three things I'd like in faceid on all devices:

1. Multiple faces. (edit: wow. So this is a thing in iOS 12? Awesome!!!)

2. Landscape (maybe we see this in newer iPhones if it comes to iPad)

3. More intelligent un-locking in a car holster, on the table, etc. Maybe a Siri command or something could force the phone to look for the face that unlocks it so that it doesn't drain battery constantly waiting for me to look right at it.

4. Not really Face ID for this one (and why it's number four in a list of three lol), but I'd like the Apple Watch to be able to unlock the phone. Maybe if the watch is in super close proximity (ie on the wrist of thebhand holding the phone) it could be set to not require additional unlocking.

Dropbox largely solves those issues. Documents makes for a decent file manager app, which can be used to play MP3 files. And in a pinch, airdrop can be used to get files on and off my laptop.

Not really an issue for me, but then, I have had years to play around with ios and get used to its quirks.
