Just to say a big Thank You to Vivo for this great piece of work! Just updated to El Capitan and was faced with the annoying search for a Cog alternative when I stumbled upon this thread thanks to Help4Tech website, and this really amazing (audio) saviour.

Thank you very much!

Gabriel
this is also exactly what happened to me!
seconded thanks

Thank you for this version of the 'Cog'! The original version was not stable. I've been using this one for a week now and it has been blazing fast and stable. Could I request you to make some small improvements?
1) The 'now playing' icon is not clearly visible in the status column. Doesn't go with the dark theme.
2) Could you make the player respond to the shortcut keys on the mac? F7, F8 & F9.

The new logo is very good.

Thanks a lot, just installed Build 10111-4 after my old cog had the well known issues in elcapitan, and it works fine.

Two tiny issues (which do not stop the show for me):
- The Equalizer lets me move the sliders, but they seem to have no audible effect to me at all.
- The Prefs->Output propose the Build-in Microphone and the Built-in Output as output device. Despite having it by default on Microphone, it works, and changing it to Output works as well.

For those interested: I am making another build and it's 10.10 & 10.11 compatible and fixes bugs and has new features.

When done i'll post it here.

Hi Vivo, Thanks for getting the cog version. I upgraded to El Capitan yesterday only to find out my Cog player was showing a blank screen.

Player looks slick, but I'm missing the feature where I can select files from finder and use CMD+ArrowDwn to all automatically add them to the playlist. Could there be a feature whereas you can browse through finder and add all songs via double clicking them instead of drag and drop/via Cog library?

Best regards.

EDIT: I found the option under the preferences table, now it works like a charm. Consider my post as non-existent

Hi all,

Just registered to say a big THANK YOU! to Vivo. You did a very good job, the player looks great and it's cleaner overall. The customizable toolbar and the new file browser are great additions. As a long time user of Foobar on Windows, this is the closest thing to it on OSX, it's great.

To get this player oriented more towards audiophiles, there are a few suggestions I'd like to make for future versions. Features like a high quality resampler in the sound output and the possibility to display bitrate, bits per sample and sample rate in the player window would be great.

Thanks again for your great work. If you need help with anything on the graphics side, feel free to ask as I'll gladly help.

Just found something a bit strange.

Under ~/Library/Preferences/ besides org.cogx.cog.plist, a new file named org.cogx.cog.plist.******* is created every second and the pervious one gets deleted, where ******* is a randomly generated string.
The file gets erased when closing the app and only the org.cogx.cog.plist remains.

Why is this happening?

Thanks.

Hi SmokingPixels,

I've noticed it too. and it's because of the vumeter writing to NSUserDefaults. It's a bug on my side and will be fixed in a newer version soon.

If I manage to get AU FX working i'll ditch the Equalizer and Vumeter will be RMS & Peak.

Cheers & nice X-mas.

For some reason this player keeps lagging when using my Logitech bluetooth audio adapter. This does not happen to be the case when I use itunes/spotify/youtube etc.

Yes I have. I did some more research and apparently it's an El Capitan problem. Btw, very glad you made this version. I've been loving this player ever since I switched to osx.

Hi vivo,

Yes, your version of COG looks good. Could you please add one more function: possibility to create more playlists, just like in foobar2000?

Thank you!

Is this still being actively updated? I have a build from 2/26/2016 somehow (not posted here - wonder where I got it??) - is that the latest? Wondering if any updates need to be done for Sierra, but so far, it's running great.

My one new request would be Touch Bar support, as right now, the "play" icons that used to work on my older MBP no longer control Cog if that's the only audio player I have open - they only seem to work with iTunes now. I am not sure if that's how Apple has made it, but I presume that any app can once again use those system-wide controls to Play/Pause/RW/FF.
