I wouldn't preorder this without knowing for sure if it will even be approved by the FDIC. I have a strong feeling it will not be. And if it is, retailers won't accept it.

Google Wallet with the Google Wallet card can do the same thing can't it at no cost.

Completely different in operation and it can't replace all your cards.

Pardon my ignorance, but why does the FDIC have a say in this? Wouldn't all apps that do something similar be under the same scrutiny?

I, too, am on the fence. But, not sure why yet. I have several days to decide if I want to jump on the 50% off.

but it will be disabled via bluetooth security, and it doesn't show your entire card number so it can't be used at all, not even for online purchases. Seems much more secure than a traditional card as far as I can tell.

i just watched the video and yeah it looks me-proof

i like the look of it actually

the only issue is the strength as i sit on my cards a lot my cards break a lot and $55 would be expensive for very time i break it

It's one of those things we haven't changed in a long time. wouldn't mind seeing something more secure.

The US can be rather slow and stubborn when it comes to adopting modern standards. Be they payment methods, units of measure, or any number of other things which are common throughout most of the industrial world.
